Village Idiot
Joselu is decent in the link up, tall striker role. I guess it's an option that Benítez wants to have.

He looks like a nuisance factor type of forward from what I've seen of him.

Ghandis Flip-Flop
Bellamy would have been classed as signing a relegated Coventry City's scraps. Judge a player on what they do wearing our shirt IMO Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Roids
I trust rafa's judgemet Gamez, Lazaar, Diame, Sels. Flawless track record like
LRD
Who has a flawless track record like?
Village Idiot
Benítez does have a pretty good track record of turning "Who?" signings into very solid performers though. Of course he's not gonna get everyone right, but from Marchena to Vázquez, he seems to be a master of turning what everybody thought were just average players into Spanish internationals. Tiresias
He also wanted to swap alonso out for gareth barry at liverpool He's not flawless no but if he likes a player deserves to be given a shot. I don't rate mark hughes much so don't necessarily buy that if he's failed there he's rubbish

Hanshithispantz
Was there not more to the Barry/Alonso situation? Sure it's been mentioned on here before but I might be wrong.
mrmojorisin75
wasn't it one of the sources of benitez falling out with the board or something, that they wouldn't buy gareth barry for him? something like that
summerof69
Also wasn't the alonso/barry decision more nuanced ? obviously a mistake but he was battling new rules in terms of homegrown players and also owners at the time.
Elliottman
Was there not more to the Barry/Alonso situation? Sure it's been mentioned on here before but I might be wrong. He needed to raise money so had to sell Alonso.

Village Idiot
Aquilani was a good player like, he would have only been there a short time before Rafa walked wouldn't he? He was a bit of a sick note I seem to recall? He never got going and then Hodgson got rid of him the following season.
Hanshithispantz
Checked he was there a year with Rafa, for some reason I never thought Rafa completed his final season with Liverpool. Where did he play for them if anyone can remember?
Bimpy474
I think Rafa said himself a 70% to 80% hit rate on player transfers is excellent and one a manager would be happy with. His record is not flawless, and if you ask a Liverpool fans about the squad he left them, some will say it was a bit lob sided. Now that was partly down to the transfers budget being lowered by the American duo and, in all honesty some poor buys. In the main though Rafa's transfer record is very good, which is all we need to really worry about long term.

Not denying that to some extent, but it's very different from this Joselu lad. edit: my memory was more people thought it was a lot of money for him.
