Newcastle United transfer rumours in the press

Recommended Posts

We should be looking at players who can improve us once we're in the PL if we go into the market in January. Financially we're in a healthy position and I would have thought we'd be a more attractive proposition for potential signings than a current bottom 8 PL club with the exception of maybe Leicester.  Assuming Shelvey gets a ban and Diame is away at the ACON it's clear where we need to be looking at strengthening.

Provided Rafa stays and Ashley continues to support him, we will be a FAR more attractive proposition than all PL clubs bar the Top 6....stability will be the key, but if top players are sure that this will continue they will want to play for both NUFC and Rafa..he has won more than any current PL manager and we are capable of filling a 75,000 stadium if we start doing well.

Remember how we signed really good players under KK when we had just escaped from relegation to the Third div 2 years previously... we can do that again but ONLY if we show ambition and continuity...we would blow the likes of Leicester and Southamptom away quite frankly.

If we have the Sissoko money and Rafa as the draw, it wouldn't be deluded to try for someone like Morgan Schneiderlin, who would seem a good foil for Shelvey and a great screen if there is a good chance of Lascelles/Clark being kept next season. Maybe paper talk, but he's being linked with West Brom and Everton. They're fine clubs, but aren't exactly a ticket to Europe or the French national side. When we were in the PL, we had the 8th? highest revenue. We wouldn't be the typical just-promoted club.

Callum McManaman mentioned this morning.

Don't like the individual, also don't rate his ability and think he's not someone that would strengthen us in the PL. Bad move all round.

As for Mitro, I wouldn't blame him for wanting a move, he's just not getting the game time with us and probably never will under Rafa. That's no disrespect to either party, just Rafa prefers a one forward set up and his forward he prefers is a much different type to Mitro. Will be sad to see him go but probably better for both parties assuming we have someone lined up to replace him in the squad.

Based on nothing more than youtube highlights and reading about him, I'd love to see us make a statement and go out and get a highly rated winger like Leon Bailey at Genk.  Been linked to bigger clubs than us and would set us back quite a lot, but one can dream..

Which is sweet fuck-all to be honest, given that Spurs (or any potential 3rd party, if he is sold on) are paying the fee in installments over 5 years. The 'Sissoko Money' due to the structure of the deal doesn't provide Rafa with massive punching power in the market at all this Summer - pisstake of a deal, and the fee accrued from the sale doesn't exactly represent a grand pot of gold waiting for Rafa at the end of the rainbow (promotion).

From the little I have seen, and from his playing stats and style, can't see this happening. Seems similar in style to Mitro, and not an improvement. Surely if Mitro is offski, then it will be primarily because Rafa doesn't want that style of forward? Unless he does want the option of that kind of forward and doesn't rate Mitro, or I guess young Alek may not be prepared to play second fiddle.
