I suspect it’s not as interesting as it could be, as much as it would be hilarious for him to be trucking mad, I know his family are massively into equestrian and I wonder if it might be to transport their horses. gbandit
Matt going to be driving the lads to matches next year? Anything to keep him on the books it seems like
Pilko
Quite a few ex-pros get into haulage/transportation businesses, I think. Would imagine he's making some kind of provision for after he's done playing.

As someone who drives an HGV, and actually passed my test with the same company, maybe I could clarify. A lot of people do their HGV for horse boxes, usually you only need a C1 licence for horse boxes, but the price of it is the same as the C1 (rigid) HGV licence, so a lot of people actually just go for that, and that covers them incase they go over weight/size dimensions of their vehicle. Also this country is getting a lot more camper vans of a bigger size, some of which require either the C1 or C licence. It will 100% be for either or both of those reasons. It’s laughable to think that a footballer would drive an HGV for a living after retiring. My dad is on the upper scale of what an HGV driver earns, and he is paid that much because of booth his experience, and the fact that he’s qualified to carry hazardous chemicals. One chemical he is allowed to carry, only 14 drivers in the country are allowed to carry it, not even ADR (hazardous materials) trainers are even qualified to carry it. His annual wage is probably the same as what Ritchie earns in a week.

pubteam
He'd struggle to play in a championship side, surely this has to be his swansong. Edited May 4, 2024 by pubteam
Andy
Not really sure why he was brought on today tbh, at 4-0 up I'd rather give White or Murphy some minutes
TheBrownBottle
I miss Monty Magpie tbh. At least he didn’t give away daft corners
mighty__mag
Been a great servant, don't want to really bash him, also he's apparently instrumental in supporting the new and younger players adapting and transitioning to the first team. Could see him with a role here in the future, Elliott Anderson, Anthony Gordon and Sean Longstaff speak very highly of Matt Ritchie.
Pilko
Hope that was his penultimate performance for us. 90+5 Vs Brighton, get him on, nice ovation, down the road in his HGV or into a coaching role.
Kid Icarus
Would have been lush if he'd scored to make up for it. It'll take a lot for me to not love Matt Ritchie, but I'd prefer it if all my memories of him were left in the past.
