Guest
I hope he isn't ahead of Shelvey in the pecking order now like. Diame as Hayden's back up and Shelvey as Merino's cover seems fair to me.
xLiaaamx
First time in ages I've been happy to see him on the pitch.
The College Dropout
Came on as a sub for Hayden a few games ago and was very good imo. When in the zone Diame has more about him than Hayden. Looks to do more on the ball and with his passing. But he’s also prone to being terrible too. Hayden gives you a consistent level of performance. triggs
I think people are a bit harsh on him in general. I'd start him next game
Greg
Diame isn't fit enough to play for more than 20 minutes though. His legs have gone.

gazza ladra
Did well just not being Perez, can’t hold possession for shit.
Ikon
Much better than Perez who's been wank for a while (despite scoring). And I don't even rate or like Diame really
Dave
Start him?! No thanks.
triggs
Start him?! No thanks. Why? Perez does nothing
Shays Given Tim Flowers
Perez is clearly under orders to press like crazy when he’s on. Diame cannot do that. Because of the press Perez is often in poor attacking positions and it probably is leading him to be more ragged on the ball. Diame offers something different. He was finding space today, which is probably easier for him to do given that he doesn’t or cannot press the ball in the same way.
morla84
Like a man possessed today compared to usual, well done Jamaal
Pilko
It was a good cameo but let us not get carried away, starting him ffs
Ikon
Start him?! No thanks. At least give him a chance Imo. Perez has had more of them than deserved. Not that I think Diame is the solution to our #10 problem though.
Infinitely Content
I would try starting with Hayden in the number 10 and Merino & Shelvey behind him, as bizarre as it sounds. Hayden has a good shot on him and isn't wasteful in possession whilst also offering the work rate Rafa demands.
triggs
It was a good cameo but let us not get carried away, starting him ffs Why is it so mental? He can't be worse than how Perez is at the moment

To be fair Rafa thinks somewhat the same after pushing him up the pitch into the number 10 against Southampton.

He can't be worse than how Perez is at the moment pretty much how I see it, what is there to lose? I think a midfield triangle of shelvey/merino/diame could work

He didn't he changed the system, but yes Hayden was the further forward but wasn't really playing a 10 role. Changing the system to a midfield three, perhaps is an option, but not Hayden in a proper no 10 position.

Didn't say he changed the system, but he was playing in the number 10 role as much as Perez, Diame or anyone else has for us this season. Not saying Hayden in there is the solution, but it's worth a shot over Diame who can't last a full game and Perez who is offering very little at the minute. Hayden guarantees the work rate needed in our system.
Mole_Toonfan
Rafa did that in a game to close it out, obviously Lejeune's penalty fucked that up. I can't see him ever doing that to start a game for reasons which have been stated a million times.
