Dan Cherry, imperious centre half, gone back to North Shields from Alnwick who are rapidly becoming a feeder club for higher levels. We'll miss him and we don't have that many to play in his place.

Looking a canny way ahead to boxing day, if anybody fancies a groundhop this would be decent:

11:00 - Marske Vs Boro Rangers (NL1)

3:00 - Redcar Athletic Vs Dunston (NPL1)

7:30 - Redcar Town Vs Grangetown (NL2)

I've been to the first two so probably wont. TBF it looks like there will be a good mix of 11, 3 and late kick offs if anybody is so inclined.

 he's a great player, he'll be a miss at Alnwick.  Big powerful lad and a good centre half at NL2 level and probably higher, scored a couple recently as well.

I can take or leave this guy's content generally but this was a great showcase of what amazing community venues these clubs are. I fancy taking in the 'hospitality' at Benfield. Love that mural at East End FC too.

Very bad tempered clash with Jarra today at St James' Park. Visitors went one up from a free kick then hospitalised our 16 or 17 year old backup keeper with a honking and completely needless challenge when he looked to already have it in his hands, serenaded by their extremely classy fans doing the ambulance noise and funeral march for him  Alnwick got to 2-1 with just minutes to go but couldn't defend a corner at the death so finished 2-2. Have never wanted to win a game more, or celebrated a goal more than our second  but was not to be

Heaton Stan shat the bed again, losing 1-2 at home to Emley. First goal for them was a pen awarded after what looked like a fair tackle, to everyone e else in the ground, the 2nd calamitous defending after a big up and under.

Really didn't understand why the manager persisted on playing their leading scorer, Pearson, out on the wing while the kid up front was none existent....but hey ho, everyone's a critic.

Macclesfield don't really feel non league, despite just getting promoted from the 7th tier last year, but there will be at least 2 non league clubs in Round 3 when the top 44 enter the competition.

They don't need lovely houses and classy restaurants, so good job they're away to Slough!

Away on training next week and staying in the People's Republic of Worksop. Looks like I'll get a relatively local game on the Tuesday and the Wednesday. There's a bit of higher level stuff but I'm a big fan of Northern League kinda standard so that's what I've been looking at.

Long shot but can anybody pick a favourite place between Kimberly Miners Welfare, Gedling Miners Welfare, Rossington Mains and Pinxton for the Tuesday, and between Brigg Town and the splendidly named Penistone Church on the Wednesday? @La Parka looks like your lads might have played at some of these places whether league or cup, you been to any?
