It'll be well deserved if we miss out on Russia. All the excuses in the world can't make up for the way we've played throughout qualifying. It's painful to watch Howard out there...his body failed him years ago. Ream is no good and Cameron mostly plays DM for Stoke these days, so asking them to marshal the defense was a mistake waiting to happen. Bradley left alone in central midfield to do everything and basically relied on a 'bit o' magic' from Pulisic to create goalscoring opportunities. At the end of the day though, Costa Rica are a better team and actually play like one. Last night was a clinic in counter-attacking football. It would probably be a good thing for us not to qualify. They wouldn't be able to paper over the cracks that have existed for years. We've stagnated since Klinsmann took over and Arena is an old dog who shouldn't be anywhere near a team needing new tricks. Unlikely to be the case today admittedly but Insigne is not really somebody who can do defensive work. Was expecting them to play a back 3 today but I guess Chiellini's injury forced their hand.
