He wasn't terrible but didn't really look like he believed he was going to do anything significant. Almiron was worse if anything, looked petrified to carry the ball any distance.

You sure ?

Love Murph but fucking hell when he's off form he's off, the amount of bad decisions/touches today were too many and the rest of the lads managed to carry him through this one, hopefully he'll be able to preform better next time.

He had a poor touch a few times and put a poor cross in when he should have put it along the ground but he picked up the ball a few times and skipped inside and put in a good forward pass.

Certainly not his best game but we're overlooking his turn and run which set up Joelinton for the winning goal...

That turn was pure class. The rest of the game he looked a bit overwhelmed. Think he needs to be in peak condition to believe in himself.

Will always love his attitude and application though.

Was just coming to the thread after watching the extended highlights to mention Murphy was key, great turn, good pass and the rest is history.

I think it's the kind of situation he's good at, there were also similar bits of play v man utd where he linked up with isak.

I still think he's a very useful squad player, if we went by the first 40 mins against city (esp on here) his and many other Newcastle players careers would be over)

He's also one of the only Newcastle players who can shoot from outside the box with the other exception being schar, which although that's not a trait of how Eddie likes to play but it's something useful for when we run out of ideas.
