Jacob Murphy

Great finish. He has that in his locker. I like that he is a volume player. Will always look to make space to get a shot off or a cross in. Too many in our team don’t. As for the rest of his game. The less said the better.

Oh and please stop those left foot swingers from 25 yards that never go anywhere near the goal

It was the standard Murphy performance really, mostly cack and frustrating on the ball, but one of our only goal threats.

Which probably sums up our issues currently though does it. Massive outlay on wingers but only one of them is really doing anything consistently and even him we’d say is an average player over-performing at times.

He's ok, great even, when he hasn't got time to think.

He’s a three, maybe four touch footballer. Everything good that he does happens when he takes very few touches. It’s amazing that he’s so clinical and his delivery is superb. However, it is still a massive flaw that we can only play one way with him

When he's got the ball from a standing start out wide and tries to cut back in to the middle is laughable 😂

3 times yesterday and they all ended the same way.

Just a standard, polarising Jacob Murphy performance.  Always looking to go in behind, head up looking for a cross, can he get a shot off.  All positive in the final third, as per usual.

But it's getting to the point where we can't give him the ball in our own half.  He becomes like an outfield version of Pope in possession.  So clumsy and wasteful.

Lost it twice in dangerous positions in quick succession from what I remember. So frustrating but we all know what he is at this point.

Murphy to me is the equivalent of a heavyweight puncher of a boxer. Not much in the way of footwork, defence, creating openings with jabs, but if he's given the space and opportunity he'll land that heavy swing with a fantastic cross or a shot. But elsewise not too much there.

There's always been this idea that Isak wouldn't be the same player if he didn't have Murphy providing so man assists, and that is evidently true. But by the same process, Murphy isn't going to be the same player when you have a withdrawn striker who isn't always ready in the penalty box to receive the cross. I think he will look better when Wissa is available. Still don't rate him though, just don't think he's a good enough footballer for the really elite clubs.

Really liked that juicy post; bar the last bit.
