Jacob "The Juice" Murphy

Recommended Posts

You can see when a game is tight where his problems lie, he just doesn't have the speed of thought or technical ability under pressure to play the cute stuff that Tonali, Bruno or even Gordon can.

To be fair, even Joelinton can struggle with this aspect but Joelinton gets away with it because he can physically hold people off where as Murphy can't.

Once a game opens up, his pace, crossing and shooting is really decent.

We need someone of a different class to play there long term but credit to him for making the most of this chance.

Look at the match cam and he's chatting animatedly with the wee mascot as the team is being led out and afterwards crouching down with a big grin on his face next to the mascot. He's just a big happy kid revelling in his purple patch and I love him for that.

It's absolutely infectious.

Him hitting the crossbar and also passing to Isak when he was offside instead of shooting felt like it summed him up a bit.

Can't help but love him though and he's certainly contributed to our change in fortunes. Keep going Jacob

Tbf, if Isak had stayed out of it Bruno would've scored.

Everyone rants and raves about Mbuemo but Murphy has played half the game time and contributed to 75% of the same amount of goals this season.

Absolutely terrible today on the ball, don't think he's done anything right  but did a very good job tracking back and defending when needed.

Aye.. just goes to bits generally against the 'bigger' clubs. Great when he has time on the ball out wide but should never try to come inside for a pass.

He’ll do the hard yards and make sure there’s a body in way against the big teams. If everyone else is doing their job offensively he’s the sort of player who is worth their weight in gold.

I said in the match thread at half time that his main contribution seemed to be as a body on the pitch. Personally think he's had his purple patch and has dropped off in the last couple of games, but despite his football being a bit clumsy at times, he can still strike a ball really well. Not the worst option to have.

He did a really valuable job defensively yesterday, obviously he has his limitations but upgrading him won't be so easy because his commitment is second to none.

It’ll be the kind of profile Eddie and the team will look for, hardworking but has the quality in the final third a la Gordon. Might take time to identify such a player that is available which is why it might not happen in January?

Agree, it might not happen this month, but they’ve had 5 months to identify transfers.
