Newcastle United 3 - 0 West Ham United - 26/08/17 (post match reaction from p22)

Today's game highlighted the difference between a great manager and an average one. In terms of overall quality, West Ham's squad are two orders of magnitude better than yours - full of solid premier league players sprinkled with internationals. Today's win was all about Rafa and his tactics. He owned Bilic.

While i agree on paper they are better, i really don't think they are that good tbh. Team is full of individuals which make no sense from a team perspective and most of them have an inflated ego where they think they are better than they are.

They'd struggle even with Rafa IMO, mind Rafa wouldn't buy most of the players they have signed.

Well, as he said, better on paper [emoji38]

I know i'm debating that the gap isn't as big as he thinks it is, they'd be shit even with Rafa imo.

Javier Hernandez is a cunt btw. Should have been off. That charge on Ritchie was blatant as fuck and he didn't stop after it.

Who was the last player sent of against us?

Sir Stanley Matthews

True, I should have added on paper in my post. I have not followed the West Ham transfers but I think they have invested a decent amount on that squad. Much more than Newcastle.

Great performance today. I don't think a single player had a bad game. Mbemba gave the ball away in a couple of dangerous positions but aside from that I can't remember anyone doing anything wrong.

In the first half I was worried that despite the hard work we didn't have anything to really trouble them but Atsu's pace breaking forward looks much improved and Merino is the type of player we've lacked for years. He's surprisingly more combative and robust than I'd assumed. Same with Joselu. I thought I read Stoke fans saying he was pushed around easily? He was winning and holding up balls all over the pitch.

Was very nervous about today, but right from the start you could see the reaction. And it continued right up to the final whistle. Rarely seen us close down like that and put so much pressure on for 90 minutes.

Everyone was basically good, possible exception of the GK.

I hadn't realised before today just how much Bilic reminds me of Pardew - utterly reliant on a special player to create anything & win them points, and talking down his own team because they can't compete financially with a newly promoted team.

Good to hear merino was very good.

He was awesome - won loads of headers, he tackles, he passes and is positionally aware.

Really enjoyed today - thought we were excellent all round.  The pass from Perez for Mitros goal was class - Joselu really worked hard.  Lots of positives today.

If we could get in one or two signings (I know, I know) it could be good for us, give them a bit of time to bed in, get Lejeune back in etc. while still riding the positivity/momentum from this result.
