Dr Jinx
So Chelsea have gotten Caceido and Lavia, just to spite Liverpool. Almost a billion spent on players and yet they’ll finish outside the top 4.
James
Fees are so crazy now, and yet to a kid when we signed Barnes it must have been like when we signed Damien Duff for £5m

An LB or a CB given it seems we only have the cash for one or the other. Honestly don’t know. The true answer is both or someone that can do both better then Burn which seems unlikely. Like Ake profile would be perfect. It depends on the quality of the player.

Probably a middle-finger to Ten Hag for being public humiliated. Hope he milks every penny out of Man Utd.
r0cafella
Given his salary it’s probably just a standard loyalty bonus he’s due for not requesting the transfer. of course it’s another stick to beat him with mind.

Why would he swap it for one worth (I'm guessing) 15m?
Pata
It’s not Maguire’s fault Man Utd signed him to massive wages. Love laughing at him but he shouldn’t just accept a big pay cut to help Man Utd, especially when Southgate starts him no matter what.
andycap
Is the 8million he wants a loyalty bonus?
madras
I can understand both sides, West Ham for paying him what they think he's worth and him for not wanting a pay cut or at least wanting as good a deal as possible. Let's face it, if he wants to play he'll not get the deal he's on unless Man U subsidise it.
Nucasol
If Man Utd were stupid enough to give a contract with all those incentives, they bear the risk. What will Maguire’s value be in a year after 12 months on the bench? The trade off between lost transfer value and that payoff may be negligible. McCormick
They’ll go for Tierney. I’m sure Emery was a big fan back in his Arsenal days and he usually goes for his former players.

Doctor Zaius
Maguire is well within his rights to stay at Man Utd. He's entitled to the rest of his contract. However, if he doesn't play, England cannot go into the Euros with him starting. He can't be assured of his England place while sitting on his arse like. McCormick
Would be amazing if they just scrapped FFP all together leaving Chelsea with a bunch of players on 8 year contracts for no reason.

Nucasol
The Athletic article on why Chelsea believe they are within the limits of FFP is an interesting read. The Premier League’s feet dragging over implementing 5 year caps on contract amortisation might save them for a couple of seasons if they miss out on Europe but the big facet will be the lower wages for young players, more heavily linked to performance incentives, and flogging their young players. Makes the theory of a Hall deal more believable in this context.
