Duran for me is unproven and I'd be cashing in if I was Villa.

Monchi and Emery have a great relationship and are obviously both wheeler dealers. What they are doing us what Rafa wanted to do with us so it's interesting to see from that POV.

It's a risk but given FFP - one I would take myself.

Hopefully bullshit, although I suppose Villa will get big money for him one way or the other from somewhere since he seems quality. Just be annoying if it's from our owners...

Only positive, Villa look likely to spend it on Felix, so will just fuck them over long term.

don’t think Duran has shown enough yet to be regarded so highly. He’s scored near double his xG this season which is unsustainable and gives Nunez at Benfica the season before he went to Liverpool vibes where he scored 26 from 15xG.

Also isn’t an all-round player and a lot of teams won’t want a pure finisher.

Very intrigued to see how Malen and Felix get on at Villa.

They're taking chances on talents that haven't quite settled elsewhere and are getting them at decent value.

I have a bad feeling these two especially are going to pay off for them.

Funnily enough, even if they don't, they are the type of players Saudi will happily pay sizeable fees for.

Either way it will be a win.

How can it be a win when it’s more in the door and then out :D Revolving door isn’t good for cohesion. Felix is a mess, and any club signing him needs to be questioned what the vision is.

Monchi is known for signing a lot of players, which some laud but I don’t. Just a constant scattergun which eventually leaves the squad in a poor state. Will strike some gold with it by laws of average.

I think you need balance of approaches and while I agree throwing players in and chopping and changing can be unsettling to momentum and team building. You can also quiet easily throw back to say our (enforced upon us or not) sign no one let players age out to keep the squad together as a whole.

Also to add they have been lucky to be able to sell what they don't want to keep. DIdn't they make their money back on Diaby? If that was us we would be lumped with him.

Villa are doing just fine. Both domestically and in the Champions League.

They've also positioned themselves to continue to be able to operate in the transfer market to try and improve their team.

And so I have no idea what you're on about.

No idea how you have come to that conclusion on Felix given that he's failed in his last two Prem stints.

Because Villa is not as chaotic as Chelsea has been and Emery is very keen on signing him.

They’re bang in trouble if they haven’t managed to substantially reduce their wages to turnover ratio this season.

The Felix signing is a bad one though IMO. Not even like for like.

Surely they don't want someone like for like though?

The whole narrative this season is that Emery only plays with one striker so signing someone who can play behind a striker makes sense.

Otherwise you've got two big earners for one position. Same with us with Barnes and Gordon.
