Other clubs' transfers

What is a high profile signing? Liverpool don't really do that whatever it is meant to mean - they sign the right players that fit their system and often target those already in the PL. Mbeumo seems an absolutely obvious Liverpool signing to me in terms of positional fit and mentality.

As for him being underwhelming for us that is crazy talk.

Without thinking about it too much, he's probably in the top 10 best attacking players in the league, and definitely the only one that might even be remotely attainable for the RW spot.

I don't think he's the profile we can sign for £60m or whatever it would take. He'll be 26 in the summer and we would be really quickly looking at his resale value going down. Liverpool don't really have to care. It's grim but IMO we would have to look at someone younger for a price like that.

Yes.

Romano is such a wanker. Another bedroom dweller who has a platform way above his ability due to social media.

He used to be very good and clearly had some great contacts but the way he puts players in the shop window now is fairly sickening. Can't stand him.

Hard to know what Liverpool will do business wise this summer because it’s a new era for them, so may pivot completely different directions on their targets.

Feels LB / CB / ST will be their main signings, with Bradley being trialled at RB for a season to see if the step up happens and saves them money. Maybe a CM too since Slot isn’t keen on Elliot at all.

Romano is clearly on the payroll on a couple of clubs. Barca, Real and at least until recently Man United. Although Jim probably has stopped that.

Some of the briefing against Sancho he had last year was so detailed it could only have come from the club.

As with anything social media wise and transfer related most of his posts have devolved into engagement bait slop.

Always thought his tweets concerning us were overwhelmingly negative. If Antony hugs someone in Spain we're finding out about it.

Surely what Romano tweets makes absolutely no difference to what actually happens with transfers?

He's the biggest transfer guru (for want of a better word) going,  of course he's got influence in that world

Nowhere near as big (or as trustworthy) as David Ornstein imo.

Agree on the trustworthy side, but he is far, far bigger than Ornstein.

I'd say on followers alone Romano has ten times the amount.

Ornstein is much more reliable but Romano is known throughout the world for his transfer tweets. I haven't looked at the Twitter followers count but I bet Romano has way more than Ornstein

so maybe on the payroll for quite a few agents, rather than clubs?

I'd imagine across the board. I'd guess he's used by clubs to gauge reaction, possibly leak a player leaving to see fan reaction, see if it invites interest from other clubs etc.

Romano has nearly 100m across all socials while Ornstein has 5m or so. Didn't realise Romano had so many.

I think he’s still seen as very influential in shaping the narrative around certain transfers and stories. There are a number of clubs like Barca and Chelsea who use proxy’s like him to unsettle players and drive transfer prices down.
