"Last week one customer who had ordered an undelivered sofa entered the Darlington store with friends and removed the sofa she had bought. Staff called the police, who pulled over her van as she drove home, but officers let her continue when she showed them the receipt."

More of this please

Keith Bishop, a spokesman for Sports Direct, did not respond to a request for comment.

A lot of people refuse to deal with him and have refused to do so for a long time, predating all the public exposure.

He's in deep with Debenhams / HOF- he might need to simplify things soon.

Hard to believe accountancy firms are refusing to deal with him, especially when KPMG were licking his arse just over a week ago.

KPMG is a massive organisation though, they can't run everything past everybody.

Not sure why you are surprised some firms won't deal with him. They will have a customer screening process and if it's anything like what is done in banking, that includes a trawl for negative press coverage. SD will get a boatload of hits which usually elevates it up to top management for approval.

Ok people, Ashley wants to install a new 'screen' above the entrance of his new Flannels shop (former Clas Ohlson unit) on Northumberland street.

Do your thing with your public objections citing concerns about it 'not in keeping with the area, concerns over the possibility of private advertising etc'.

As this is an advertisement application, the only grounds for consideration are amenity and public safety.

Loads of random objections are just going to be a waste of time, particularly that of the poor planning officer who has to read through and summarise them all, even if they're refusing it.

However, if people want to object the only matters that can be considered are amenity and public safety. Public safety won't be an issue on a pedestrianised street so that leaves amenity, the key terms would be 'harm to the visual amenity of the area' resulting from the size, luminance level and intermittent nature of the advertisement. That it would appear dominant and incongruous, not in keeping with the scale of the building and harmful to the street scene. Stuff like that.

In one word you have explained Ashleys ownership of Newcastle United football club.

A sofa is not delivered by House of Fraser and that’s further evidence that Ashley is a piece of shit? That way madness lies.

This comment really tickled me though: “She [woman who went in mob handed and took sofa which was on display] said: "I'm more mad because I'm not going to get my poofy and my cushions off of them. How am I going to get them?"

i think this is our biggest hope for a sale myself, that whole side of things drags him down to the point he just wants no other bother especially if TMG etc. keep going for his businesses

Agreed, his greed could most definitely be his downfall.......and that's why the pressure must be kept up and then intensified.

More likely he just doesn't want to pay them what they're asking. My ex used to work for KMPG, and they're just as shady as him and his crew are.
