I just can't understand why they'd rather blow millions on us now, when they could've bought sunlun for 50p and ended up in the same position as us.

That might tell you something about your club, really.

Although I'd agree they are one of the few teams down there that has a lot of positive points, but chronic mismanagement has really shackled them now.

And the fans just don't deserve it really, they are complicit imo.

I was there and remember it well. They'd never won at home all season which was some going as it was towards the end of April! They were getting themselves all excited by half time whereas I was absolutely shitting it thinking we'll never live this down if their 1 home win of the season is against us.

Then we came out for the 2nd half and scored 4 goals right in front of us! The last few minutes were played out with more NUFC fans inside the ground than them!

Was that the game where the daft old cunt groundsman had to be restrained at the end of the game from lobbing an armful of corner flags into our fans? [emoji38]

They’re always banging on about how good of an investment they are and yet the only people interested are a pair of daft cunts from Oxford and some naive trust fund kid who’s had the wool pulled right over his eyes.

The only winner here is Sartori, who borrowed his bank balance to previously mentioned Oxford cunts and earned 20% of the club into the bargain.

Similar attendances. Not knocking their crowds at their level but their average is about 20k less than ours.

Probably count on one hand the amount of times they’ve sold the SOL out in the last 15 years too.

I don't know how they keep finding people to bail them out and subsidise them mind - Drumaville, Short and now KLD. I mean you'd think they'd look at how much money the previous people lost to get nowhere and the thanks they got for it and go somewhere else instead, this one's been tried time and again, difference with us is the one time it was tried it absolutely boomed, so you can see the obvious attraction.

Its a bit of a con cos they'll say they can (albeit very rarely) get X amount in gates - but wasn't it the case that their tickets are so cheap they actually make less than Norwich.

Cheap as fuck tickets, concessions, freebies and very little spending once inside the ground. Their larger than average attendances for their league means fuck all when investors take a peak behind the curtain.

Apart from similarly getting far bigger gates than we've a right to and more than anybody but Man United would get in the same situation, they're not similar at all for me.

historical average attendances is Newcastle 95 Sunderland 21 and the gap was huge many a time.

Is my memory right in that the last season or two in the PL under Short they were struggling to fill the stadium and ended up giving away loads of tickets, to the point where people cancelled their season ticket because they could get free tickets instead?

That's basically every season since I can remember. Even at Roker Park our school (50/50 area) got free tickets, you can imagine that was the same for a lot of schools.

Hahaha aye that's the one. Possibly the funniest thing I've ever seen inside a football stadium. He just completely flipped, and the more we laughed, the angrier he got [emoji38]

Bet he posts on RTG.

It wasn’t Man Utd they sold out to, the only time they did was us. They only had 31500 for their semi final with them and that was including 9000 Man Utd fans.

If there’s one thing the mackems despise it’s paying for extra home games. They always boycoutt. Be it cups or playoffs, doesn’t matter how big the game is.

Palace SF playoffs: 34,536

Pompey SF playoffs: 26,610

Lincoln SF playoffs: 10,000 ;)

The time to strike was around the documentary.

That got them more global exposure than anything they've ever done. There should have been a concentrated protest effort with a view to getting a new owner and that individual being backed by the fans with a full SOL. Instead it just became a series of memes and now no one outside of their bubble really cares. Downie's assessment towards the end of January was basically what every newsroom in the country thinks.

The same was true of Blackburn, Leeds, all those big teams that drop down. There comes a point where you either bounce back or you become a League One team. They are firmly a League One team now.

My son's PhD thesis was s philosophical underpinning of the need for some control (read, a degree of socialism) of large corporations to maximise liberty (using non- domination as a criterion) of the individual.  80,000 words of difficult political philosophy. I believe it's accessible via University of Bristol library.

Didn’t someone pull up their accounts when in the PL and compared their attendances to their ticket income and it evidenced just how many free/cheap tickets they were giving away?

Their ticket revenue was lower than Norwich's I recall. Norwich average gate, 25,000, Sunderland 43,000.
