Andy
Really unsure still. Seems one paced. Hard to tell where his fitness levels are at after that injury like, looks lacking in confidence too. Having said that, while his performance wasn't great it's another good result with him and Hayden in the centre of midfield, which I'm inclined to think isn't a coincidence. xLiaaamx
He's started against Arsenal and Spurs. Let's give him a game like Watford at home next week before we say he's got nothing offensively.
AY
Would have ripped the net off in that first half shot had it not been tipped Should have squared it to Atsu though..
nemtizz
I'm sure Atsu would have buried it.
Newcastle Fan
Him and Hayden are our best midfield partnership, the rest can serve as back up.
nemtizz
How did he play? Just watching the highlights. What a ball for Schar's header miss.
Kanj
Still looks a bit sloppy imo. If his form was a 9 last year on a scale. He’s playing at w 4.5 to 5. He’s not making those same tackles and he’s not playing the ball as quickly as he did last year as often. He’s arguably still my favorite player we have right now not named Schar. He’ll get back there I’m sure.

HawK
He's fine when he's got time on the ball but seems to give it away sloppily under pressure. That's odd because when he broke through that was one of his best qualities. He knew what he could do with the ball before he got it and rarely gave it away. Zero
He is learning to take more risk. Give him time.
Kanj
I honestly think he’s just getting back to the speed of football and we’re much less organized than last season obviously so it’s adding to it. He’s our best midfielder imo and will and should keep his place.
LV
Yep, he had a pretty bad injury and he’s coming back into chaos under Bruce where there once was order under Rafa. I’m really concerned Bruce is going to ruin him.

I’m really concerned Bruce is going to ruin him. I don’t think he’ll ‘ruin’ anyone. He didn’t do Maguire & Robertson any harm for instance. If a player is good enough they can still shine through his shit.
LV
Hope you’re right. I trusted Rafa to hone him, shame he has to endure trying to shine through Bruce’s shit though.

Maguire only broke into the team when Bruce packed the pip and bailed on the eve of the season after they were promoted - before that Bruce had him firmly on the bench even in the Championship. BlueStar
This seems a bit harsh, I didn't hear anyone "slamming" him. https://nothingbutnewcastle.com/2019/09/blogs/gallowgate-gossip/newcastle-fans-slam-longstaff/

And even if he played Robertson, it was more of a punt from Liverpool on him. No big fee transfer, no other big clubs interested. I don't think Liverpool ever intended for him to be anything but a back-up player.
