LiquidAK Posted Thursday at 09:37 Share Posted Thursday at 09:37 Great from a PSR and squad progression perspective. Sad personally as I love Miggy, never gave anything short of maximum effort, and will always remember him for scoring our first CL goal in decades. Him going back to a club he's revered at feels like a great move for him, so this deal works all round. One of those you'd hope will always be welcomed back by the fans and remembered for his significant contributions

I feel sad when I see how out of form he's been this season, so hopefully he smashes it back in that league. Love the bloke. His stats are rubbish but I don't even care

He always works hard, and to be honest until Murphy hit some form starting against Ipswich, he was still the better player.

Vedder Posted Thursday at 09:48 Share Posted Thursday at 09:48 If true, I hope he gets a great send off on Saturday. Been a great servant for us, tried 100% every time he stepped on the pitch. Good time for all parties for him to move on too.

SteV Posted Thursday at 10:00 Share Posted Thursday at 10:00 If Barnes is out for a month he probably misses another 3/4 PL games. That’s nowhere near enough to necessitate us replacing this window, if we’re not convinced the right player is available.
wormy Posted Thursday at 10:02 Share Posted Thursday at 10:02 I love the guy but I can't believe we're getting eight figures for Miggy. I'll well and truly believe it when it's finalised.
Doctor Zaius Posted Thursday at 10:04 Share Posted Thursday at 10:04 The money is good. Pretty decent signing overall. Certainly played his part. Was a big part of our resurgence under Howe and our 4th place finish.

ponsaelius Posted Thursday at 10:05 Share Posted Thursday at 10:05 (edited) I'm not a financial expert but given he's been here well beyond his original contract terms has his original fee been fully amortised? And this fee would effectively be all profit? Edited Thursday at 10:05 by ponsaelius
Sibierski Posted Thursday at 10:05 Share Posted Thursday at 10:05 Nice ending for him. Back where he’s loved, area he likes and hopefully playing at the World Cup there in 18 months time. It’s clear with his minutes he’s not needed and unless Murphy gets injured or a proper opportunistic buy becomes available, don’t think we sign a RW. Would like to think a RW on loan with option we’d consider. Gives Howe time to assess training and if it’s worthwhile making permanent. Free hit a deal like that since Murphy has rightly made RW his own presently.

christ Posted Thursday at 10:09 Share Posted Thursday at 10:09 A limited player who through a combination of decent man management and outrageous luck managed a grand total of three months of genuinely good form during his entire time here. No personal animosity towards the lad, but £10m is daylight robbery.

On the other hand, he was signed to play in quite a dangerous front 3 under Rafa with Perez and Rondon, and he ended up grinding most of his time here under dire managers at a disaster football club.
