Miguel Almirón (now playing for Atlanta United)

What does everyone reckon of Almiron currently then? Seemingly well down the pecking order at present. I still think he has something  to offer, especially when the Almiron + Trippier combination down the right served us so well the season before last.

Howe got his subs spot on yesterday but I really thought he could have given us an injection of energy and pressing yesterday late on ahead of Murphy.

I think Almiron got found out very quickly after that one standout season on the right with Trippier. He's just too easy to defend against now. Murphy is crap but at least he has a bit of unpredictability about him.

The club seem to want Almiron out, so the best way to encourage him to move is show him he won't be getting game time here.

Good job he never,  cos bruno was fucked then hall had to go up top cos he could barely move at the end when we'd used all 5

He's making sure we can't buy a replacement by hanging on for the right move. What's good for him personally is shit for us as a club, so quite happy that he's not getting any game time.

He's just a body now that's there for depth but should be seeing scrap minutes if we don't get a daft injury crisis.

Come January, should be moved on for whatever sale there is. Doesn't matter if it's £5m, just get gone. The minutes he will end up getting across the season, someone like Sanusi can take up. One thing we need to get better at, slimmer squad, where the fringe minutes is spent on kids.

But I'm sure argument come January will be, we have a chance of Europe, so need to keep the experienced heads. Love the guy, but his time is up and let's not drag it out to a sorry ending.

We turned down £7m in January from the American side. I don't think we are getting money for him now so we need to use him, and he needs to make an impact when he plays.

He’s the number one player of “intensity is our identity”.

Yeah, probably a big factor in the press not being what it was.

With Trippier and Schar's ages and their unique profiles, it was always likely we'd have to transition to something without plug and play replacements for what they give us, but maybe its the case for Miggy too.

He did play well overall. However, Gordon put it on a plate for him but he just could not use the right foot to tap it in

He was very busy, and his general play was better than most on the night. But he still got in good positions then turned back too often instead of going for the jugular. That is a weakness in his game that is not going to be fixed at 30 yrs old.
