Happinesstan
Early days but if the new signings can settle as quickly as Cabaye and Ba did, then it could be a similar season. Prepare for the media love-in with Brucey.
Disco
BUT RAFA Someone’s England flag is soggy again.

Menace
We won't go down, the Wilson signing pretty much guarantees that.
Interpolic
It'll be an unforgivable collapse if we finish 5th given we're 2nd now.
Tiresias
Wouldn't rule it out tbh, still think if we end up in a rut he will just get more and more negative. He can't change the course of games well and a lot of teams that hold the ball a lot better than west ham will probably just starve us of chances without too much difficulty. What I will i suppose give him credit for is that he clearly is gifted at keeping players on side and happy, and while we will never be as disciplined as we were under Rafa to have an airtight defense and plan for every eventuality, the players do give it a good go on the pitch. Media loves grafters (and likes to patronise us and other northern clubs) as just wanting teams to work hard and so this will get way over praised. What he won't do is ever tactically outthink any other manager, or make a sensible sub, or give a technically accomplished foreign player proper time of day. It'll probably be enough, but do think, like if we'd come accross Leeds judging from today we'd be absolutely hammered and Bruce would be insinuating Bielsa was an illegal immigrant or something. KaKa
Give managers the types of players they know and things might just work a tad bit better. Revolutionary stuff. If only the previous manager was treated as fairly. Oh well.

Happinesstan
I've got to hold my hands up. If Rafa was still in charge, I'd be [with hindsight]delighted with that team selection, performance and result.

If Rafa was still in charge, I'd be [with hindsight]delighted with that team selection, performance and result. I would except for the selection and performance. I only saw the highlights and Rafa has put out some teams that were just as dodgy. Especially early on in the season. If we'd got a draw away to West Ham, on the opening day of the season we would have been happy.
David Edgar
Maybe not if Rafa had spent £100m+ on 2 strikers, 2 wingers, a cm and left back.
Happinesstan
If it was Rafa I'd be confident that Almiron being on the bench was a tactical decision, and the result would justify the decision. I'd also be confident Almiron would be picked for the next game.
Happinesstan
Maybe not if Rafa had spent £100m+ on 2 strikers, a winger, a cm and left back. With only the first game of the season to go upon, with 3 debutants, missing our star keeper? Yeah I would.
Guest Cheesy Beans
Let’s not get too giddy, West Ham were absolutely diabolical like. Bruce also starts well and then has a dreadful end to the season when the players fitness is all over the place.

KaKa
Well we mostly played terribly against every calibre of team last season, and so it's looking like an improvement of sorts.
Tsunami
Some real embarrassing stuff in here, Bruce had nowt to do with the Joelinton transfer, Ashley has spent money this preseason as it’s absolutely vital we stay up for any sale and he’s had a bit of a windfall with the deposit. Bruce identified where we needed players; not rocket science but he managed to get them to come here. We were the far better side yesterday. I’m no Bruce lover, said so many times, the wheels tend to fall off after a couple of seasons but knocking him at the moment is nonsense. My biggest gripe with Bruce has always been his feigned affinity to Newcastle and that accent. He’s never been at a bigger club than Newcastle (fair to say) so let nature take its course. For a club that had Kinnear, licky lips, McLaren and the utterly detestable King, I’d take Bruce right now.
