Joelinton: will not play against Everton (Howe)

Recommended Posts

We keep putting him on hoping that he will come good, 3 goals in 58 games in the league ffs, surely giving Gayle or anyone else a chance would be better?

Gayle didn't get involved at all in his last start, Joelinton is a far better option.

Death is a far better option than both of the fuckers

At this level he should have scored imo. Trouble is he's not a PL level player.

My instant reaction was, how has that not gone in? When it's a bad miss. it's usually how the fuck did he miss that?

Thought he did most things right, he went back the other way which beat the keeper, it was only saved by a last ditch block by a defender.

Whether he should be playing is another debate, but with the options we have I don't really think there's much choice.

You can't judge him on that not going in alone. There's catalogue of poor shots from last 18 months which is why most of us think he's not good enough.

We know he's not good enough. Only Callum Wilson is good enough in our squad, and he's out injured. The other options are rubbish as well.

Pound for pound he has to be the worst signing the club has made and that’s saying something. Class A donkey and the scout who signed him should have been kicked out of the club.

Makes you wonder what is was about him in Germany, that made someone/Ashley believe he was worth £40million. Something smells dodgy to me.

Pass, and I totally agree this transfer has a lot of unanswered questions. I would be amazed if we even got 5 mil for him now. Total dross and it was no surprise that Rafa came out and said he wasn’t worth the money. Don’t know for certain, but, would not be surprised if Ashley’s insistence on signing him was the straw that broke the camels back with regards to Rafa.

Heard today from a lad at work who knocks around with one of our current players that Joelinton was out walking with his lass and bairn and a scaffolders van pulls up. They hurl a load of abuse at him and apparently he doesn't speak very good english but his lass does so she had to translate what the obscenities were. Don't agree with giving players abuse when they are away from football.

Absolutely no need for it.

To be fair to his shot there was a) contact and b) he didn't pea roll it. So definitely an improvement.

It is just bizarre to be a striker but zero hunger for scoring goals. He has some nice attributes to his game but none of the pre-requisites to being a striker and not enough to be anything else either. He definitely offers more to the team than Gayle but he is still ultimately a waste of starting position. Seeing as we don't have much else left he is likely going to be in the team at the weekend.

Yeah, not great, but tbf they've been denied the chance to shout at him that he's shit for the last year so not sure I can blame them too much.

If this was Bruce getting stick in public nobody would say it wasn't justified.

Don't even think he look particularly that great in the German league either.

Literally could have signed Rondon, ASM and an "expensive" CM and we'd have been looking far different.

He has some decent aspects to his play but this guy is not a 20m player never mind 40m.

See if he cost something like 10m you'd think okay you get what you pay for.

Club record man. What a farce.

I've not seen the decent aspects mind and I wouldn't pay 5m for him even with today's sky high prices. He was bought to improve our attacking options and he certainly doesn't do that. He's poor in the air, he's pretty poor on the ground, and his effort in games is laughable especially when it comes to getting into the areas that matter - and what he was bought for. Class A donkey all round for me.

Which is what Rafa would have done, so fucking frustrating.

Then consider the fact that the Chinese club signed Rondon for just £16 million. Less than half of Joelinton's fee.

It's hard to truly appreciate how good a team Rafa could have built here if he was just allowed to get on with it.

Rondon would have been such excellent value as well because he never gets injured and his style of play ages very well. He could have stayed useful up until 35 years old easily.

Remember at the time Ashley and his 'experts' didn't want to sign him because they felt his performance was due to him trying to get a contract and he wouldn't keep it up ... never mind him never doing better previously was due to him being stuck under that oaf Pulis.

So of course they let Rondon go along with Rafa and then spend more than twice the money on a younger less experienced striker in Joelinton, who they then paired with a manager even worse than the Pulis that failed to get the best of the Rondon we just get rid off.

This club man. Sit back, relax and let it burn. It's all so pointless.
