Sorry, do you mean our players?

You said when he's crowded he's diabolical. By that metric so are most of our players. Bruno and Lewis Hall are the exception maybe, but there's a reason we don't keep the ball well when we are pressed. Joelinton holds onto the ball in an attempt to manouvre the ball out then release players forward. I'm sure I've already said this somewhere today. The alternative is to pass it early but for that you need options. Or you can pass sideways or backward, but that just puts the pressure onto whoever you pass it to.

I do think we need an upgrade, but I don't think the turnover in possession is just on him.

Anyone else notice how much of a weirdo Pedro Porro became 2nd half?

was waiting for Joelinton to take his yellow and smash him

Proper fucking creep, was giving it the big one in people’s faces and acting like a complete clown. Pretty sure there’s a late challenge in the post coming his way next year

Eddie needs to properly unpick why he has such loyalty to Joelinton on the pitch. It’s a great thing to be backed by your manager but it’s holding us back having Joelinton take up a starting spot as standard. Especially now Miley is ready.

Whether Jow is carrying an injury or not, I just don’t think he’s ever going to be player we need again like he has been for us. I love the lad but it’s just not his game to link play with a high tempo accurately

It’s clear that we can’t press as much when we play two games a week and Joelinton is an absolute beast when everyone can press relentlessly, but we can’t so he’s either pressing by himself or just being a passenger.

He’s been playing more as a second striker in possession this season, and has been even less of a threat than usual.

Yeah, time I liked him most when he was getting the ball and driving from deeper down that left channel. Maybe with Gordon and Hall it’s not such a need now, dunno.

Really thought yesterday would’ve suited him but he wasn’t at it first half. Dunno if he had a niggle already but it was a blessing he came off with it. Tbh, doubt EH would’ve subbed him so early if he didn’t.

Hope he recovers for the w/end.

Ideal situation would be he's not fit to start at the weekend. Second half cameo might not be the worst thing if we need it but Miley deserves to be in there and will help us use the ball better.

A half fit Joelinton shouldn’t be anywhere near the pitch. I’d argue a fully fit Joelinton shouldn’t

Apparently knackered his groin so I'm guessing he's out.

Theres no way Joelinton doesnt start again the groomers. If the game becomes even remotely physical - he will be needed.

We are relying on him to roll out a vintage performance though and the odds of that seem quite low.

If we’re worse without him because of physicality something is serious fucked with the way we’re setting up to play football in the context of what we’ve spent.

Erm, why? Surely some players will always have different attributes to others? Weird point TBH.

I thought he played well throughout the game made some important challenges in the 2nd half.

You’re about the only one, Frankie. I didn’t think he was as honking as some seem to have, in the match thread, but I am erring towards hoping he doesn’t start at the palladium of shite. Whereas this time last season I would have been praying he was fit.

Not quite sure what the issue is, doubt it is age he is still clinging onto his twenties, but he hasn’t looked quite as fit this season and his decision making and execution has definitely been far from his best.

Feels like he's trying to be too clever at times this season. Joelinton at his best either passes it simple or drives into space with the ball, the amount of times he's giving it away needlessly by trying little deft flicks and cute passes around the corner is ridiculous.

There's space in our eleven for him at his best, but we just haven't really seen that this season.
