Wolfcastle
its not a question of his ability so much as its a question of his lack of availability as opposed to having someone else. Woodgate was, probably still is, the best defender I've ever seen in a Newcastle shirt but wasnt concerned with selling him because was an injury waiting to happen and managed to play about a third of the time. Especially baring ffp and squad size in mind, it would be foolish NOT to think about moving on and I'm sure its a consideration within the club

This is the first time he's been asked to put his body through the wringer. Howe's football philosophopy is a lot more demanding on wear and tear for a footballer, it's not that surprising some players hold up better than others. ASM has always looked susceptible to muscle injuries. That said, if the coaching staff think he can be built up to a better level of resistance to these injuries, I'm sure they'd be happy to keep him rather than let him go for less than £30m. AyeDubbleYoo
Yeah exactly, all depends on what the experts think can be done with him.

Pata
Thought he was a lazy shite who doesn’t run during games. How’s it even possible that his body can’t handle Howe’s system when he’s just standing around?

AyeDubbleYoo
Even his recovery is a bit odd, the best place to train and rehab is along the harbour in Monaco? Edited April 13, 2023 by AyeDubbleYoo
TBG
Well unlike some on here, Howe doesn't harbour bad feelings towards him so gives him that freedom to rehab elsewhere.

HaydnNUFC
Don't want him sold at all but he's already missed 9 games this season, if he's out for 4-6 weeks that could see him not being available for a total of 17(!) games this season. That's just a joke.
Aiston
Rather not sell him but if he cannot stay fit and is going to miss games often and take a few games to get up to speed every time he comes back...there isn't much else choice really. Hopefully mind games with the whole running round Monaco
The Prophet
The club and Howe consistently lie about the nature and severity of injuries. It's likely he'll be out for a few weeks, but I doubt it's as bad as reported.

Mazzy
I imagine we'll hear something closer to the truth from Howe tomorrow at the press conference. Not the exact truth ofcourse but, truth adjacent perhaps. Ideally Miggy will be back fit for Spurs so he'll take ASMs place in the matchday sqaud and then if we could get ASM back for the last 4 games or so to make an impact that'll hopefully do. GideonShandy
That article incorrectly states that his contract expires at the end of the 2024-25 season. In fact he was given an extended contract through June 2026. https://www.nufc.co.uk/news/latest-news/allan-saint-maximin-signs-new-deal-to-stay-at-newcastle-united-until-2026/ Depending on who you believe, he's making somewhere between 4 million and 5 million per year. I doubt that he is desperate to leave, even if the club won't redo his contract yet again, or that the club feels any pressing need to get him off the payroll. Can't see him leaving any time soon unless the club gets an unrefuseable offer.
