PauloGeordio
His antics and gesticulating when wanting a decision instead of getting back in formation like the well drilled side Eddie is creating, is just part of his frustrating antics. Let’s not talk about blind alley runs, and doesn’t know when to pass or which pass to make. Howe may keep him for next season but unless he develops (not sure he can, as he prefers let’s play type of football) he’ll be gone and we’ll have better, he’s a transitional part of the rise of Newcastle for now! Abacus
I think it's pretty clear he can't play as a no 9. We looked all over the place with him up front. His best moment was when Wood came on and he set him away, but aside from that he had a bad one today, losing the ball all over the place. Albeit against one of the best teams in Europe, where nobody did well.
The College Dropout
Take the fee. Selling ASM +20m could get us a real player.

TRon
He's a fabulous one man band, no doubt about that, but you don't win many games with only one player doing it all.
NEEJ
He was aaful today, mind. He played like he was wearing slippers.
Kid Icarus
Thought Matip was absolutely class btw, it wasn't just ASM that he had under control, it was anyone up against him. Don't think there's that much to be critical of with our players aside from being offside too often.
The College Dropout
It grinds my gears to see him amble back on the left with Salah or Díaz working so hard on the same flank. Then when he gets on the ball he’s pap.

He’s class, but if you get in his face and press him he can be a liability, he brings the ball out so well for them.
r0cafella
He was poor today but his application wasn’t terrible.
TheInfiniteOdyssey
Running out of patience with him, yes we were playing against one of the best sides in the world, but his inability to do the basics is maddening. His first touches today in critical positions were shocking. There’s very few teams where he’d be ascribed so much importance to ultimately produce so little. James
Can’t believe I’m saying this but if we had to choose to remove one of ASM, Fraser, Almiron and Murphy from the squad for next season then I’d choose to remove ASM

Newcastle Fan
Looks tired, frustrated, and out of ideas. Might be good to give him the rest of the season off and have him back fresh for next year.

He didn’t even look like producing an assist or anything remotely useful whereas ASM at least came close when he fed Wood. Regards that Wood chance (which wouldn’t have counted anyway of course), I’m not sure I’ve seen a less natural, less convincing and more pitiful effort than that from a striker since Riviere. tommo
I feel like I constantly defend him and I truly do appreciate him. But, he was absolutely woeful today. Even looked lazy at times I thought. So frustrating.
joeyt
When he used to pick the ball up in the opposition half it felt as if something exciting was going to happen but at the moment it really does feel the opposite Hoping a rest and a full pre-season will help us getting back firing
Mattoon
I keep expecting him to pull something out the bag, to turn a game on its head or rip a team to pieces but he continues to disappoint. I love the guy but we don't have time for passengers, he needs to step up, sort out whatever it is that's got him playing with his head down and shake himself out of it. We won't be replacing him this summer as there's much more pressing positions to invest in.
joeyt
It was mad how it took him to about 80 mins to change his boots today. He was slipping and sliding all over the first half
Unlucky Luque
He's a incredible talent, a real once-in-a-generation trickster, but his decision making in the final third really is some of the worst I have ever seen at top level football.
