Guest Howaythetoon
Lee was immense, an underrated player actually. As good a player as Lampard was. Master stroke of a signing by KK and to play him in the role he did too. Probably the best pound for pound signing the club has ever made. Shocking his testimonial was such a wet squib of an affair! Great great player for us, a proper Toon legend. He’d be worth 60m + or more today easily.
Judge Holden
Emre had it all, needed a Rafa type coach to aid his fitness/discipline and tactical awareness though to turn him into a top top player. Was super excited when we signed him. Luque too. There was a belting YouTube compilation of Luque scoring overhead kicks and chipping the keeper from all angles when we signed him. I remember him lobbing the ball over Ferdinands head on his debut and knocking it just wide. Then after that he paggered his hamstring v Fulham and was shite from then on. Think he scored a rocket for the reserves against Liverpool. Absolutely no idea why I remember that.

Right player, just wrong time, team, manager, injury to get from the off and maybe the wrong type of player for the league/era at the time. As far as being at NUFC anyway. He had far more to his game than say Robert for example. I know the club didn’t exactly do everything to assist him or many a foreign player when joining. Viana was another one. Souness wanted Boa Morte and Anelka with Luque as a front 3. Under the right circumstances/climate, they would have been mouthwatering potentially. Owen was a top player, but not what we needed, what Souness wanted ideally, and signed with no real thought about the rest of the team. Like today in many ways. Not that Souness could have done much with the team whoever was signed anyway.

Criminally under capped for England but no shame in being behind Ince, Gazza, Redknapp and Platt.reckon he would have connected with the cross that Gazza just couldn't against Germany mind He'd be England's best midfielder if he was playing now, looking back on the mid 90s options we had some talent there ad a country. International football then and now didn’t/doesn’t quite suit a box to box ACM like Lee and maybe the EPL doesn't right now either. KK’s team obviously of course suited Lee down to the ground and vice versa. The striking talent for England back then was insane. Shearer and Sheringham were the most ideal at that level together though, that 4-1 at Wembley vs the Dutch at Euro ‘96 was a striking partnership at its best at that level. Mr Logic
Looking like recapturing some form. Better all-round player than Hayden and that's no disrespect to Hayden who has proved to be decent to slightly better than over his time here.

We miss Hayden putting his foot in though, not that the modern game needs it as much now, but some of Hayden's tackles are vital. Thought this lad showed some great feet today, he look really good last two games.
Unlucky Luque
Nice touches, great control and decent all round ball winner and passer. A safe bet, but with no real stand out qualities. See him as Ki's replacement.
Newcastle Fan
He's exactly what Ki was, an ok midfielder that will sit in the middle and play a few passes and put a tackle in every once in a while, nothing more nothing less.

It’s frustrating because he was class against Bournemouth and it felt like he might’ve turned a corner but he was noticeably stand-out wank today! No one covered themselves in glory but to be the shittest player in that pitiful performance is just embarrassing!

LFEE
Very average. We’ve had worse possibly in recent years but he’s just not athletic enough even if he was close enough to having enough ability. He’s capable of an odd nice Zidane turn now and again so have visions of him playing alongside Scott Parker in midfield...... :frantic:

STM
He looks vaguely like a good footballer but when Shelvey makes you look disinterested theres something wrong. Hes never going to be a quality PL player. Bin.
