The Saudi PIF remain committed to the Newcastle United deal, although there will be no public statements to that effect. The PIF and chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan's return to the fore of late has seen plenty of coverage of their aspirations for the next few years - including an intriguing quote from Al-Rumayyan, who would have been on Newcastle's board, that professional sport remains a "priority" for the fund. It was always felt by those close to the deal that PIF would look elsewhere to invest in professional football if the Newcastle deal was definitively over. With things still rumbling in the background, there are assurances that won't happen. The deal - brought up in Parliament this week again - continues to be spoken about. A recent meeting of Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Al-Swaha with UK minister for Investment Gerry Grimstone was noted by some takeover watchers. Lord Grimstone was performing "shuttle diplomacy" on behalf of the group last summer. But for those who see it as a smooth ride, the International Olympic Committee's decision press for Saudi to be kept on a "blacklist" of potential rogue states when it comes to piracy illustrates the work still to be done. Interestingly, Rafa Benitez looks to be in no hurry to commit to a club while the takeover saga plays out. Er, actually, I wouldn't mind reading it, and I wouldn't mind discussing it, or a bit of theorising here and there - the prospect of a takeover remains a welcome distraction in the context of A, the pandemic and B, the monotonous drivel served up by everything else NUFC. But it's basically impossible at this point to get involved in any sort of debate, without first wading through mountains of shit centering on the activities of one particular Twitter account and one particular person who, in reality, isn't actually worth anywhere near this amount of discussion. You can't just monopolise a corner of the forum and then say 'fuck off if you don't want to read it.' Anyway, I'm helping no one by perpetuating this rubbish so crack on. Like it or not this bloke has a legal action pending with the PL, the PL will not want some information disclosed into the public domain, and thereby his action is a very real threat to them. So whether you think he is central to all this or a peripheral figure, any bits of info from someone in contact with buyer and seller is useful at this point. Keep it coming Whitley. This thread is for people like us who revel in the thought that “one day” we’ll be rid of this thief. People are welcome to have their own views on the subject but please don’t come in here and criticise the likes of Whitley and Manorpark for their updates. If you don’t like what they have to say, stay in the “takeover thread”. Nah, most people on the forum revel in that thought, this threads for complete blind optimism. We could certainly do with more tossers in the fan base. So WM claims he isn't Keith, yet claims to know how much the case is setting him back in personally, not just the monetary value. Also, it isn't (setting him back personally, I mean). Anyone that thinks someone forks out an entire years salary on this (bearing in mind the salary is dropped by tax etc.) is clearly a bit simple. I’ll humour you despite you’re insults. He’s publicly stated it has set him back 50k so far in legal fees, and that he has ceased work for a year to facilitate this, including that he has turned down work also in this period. You’ll have to ask him with regards to his tax matters, however unless you believe he is lying all his claims have been made in the public domain.
