That we are 12th instead just proves the fallacy of putting too much stock on a player with a terrible history with injuries. Although tbf I think we would definitely have sold if he hadn't managed to get crocked again before the season even began.
AyeDubbleYoo Posted Wednesday at 17:52 Share Posted Wednesday at 17:52 I’m not sure if we put too much stock in Wilson or if we just missed the chance to sell him because of his period of great form. And probably how difficult he is to sell, for obvious reasons.
OverThere Posted Wednesday at 17:58 Share Posted Wednesday at 17:58 (edited) Is he playing Widow Twanky at the Theater Royal this Christmas? We may as well get some use out of him. Edited Wednesday at 17:59 by OverThere
JEToon Posted Friday at 09:56 Share Posted Friday at 09:56 "Callum is doing okay, he’s building his load again. There was no real injury but just a feeling in his body that he couldn’t push as hard as he wanted. We’ll see how he is but probably with the two-week gap it's best to leave it." It must be torture that. I am aware the default of some will be to say it is cowardice from him but I don't buy that from his personality personally, I think he has always seemed like someone who enjoys playing for the club and will know how massive playing is for his next contract and value, it's a shame how his time with us is playing out. Taking that at face value, he probably knows his body better than most by now and that there would likely be another breakdown if he pushed it. So maybe he doesn't trust himself either. He's certainly a conundrum to medical science In which case, the fault doesn't lie in him, more on the club for not moving him on and a couple of posters pointed this out at the time. But then again, at the time he wasn't sold we weren't really in a position to replace him as it now looks from a financial point of view, so maybe there is no real fault. But I still can't help be annoyed with his lack of availability - I'm just not going blame anyone in particular for it, which would be nice and cathartic to be able to do. I do think the best thing for both him and the club would have been less of a workload and maybe a warm weather environment for a smallish fee had there been, say, Saudi interest. Maybe he'd then have had an outside chance of staying fit enough for the odd England game last summer. But hindsight is a wonderful thing. As it has turned out, he just adds to our squad problems, which I'm a bit tired of thinking about.

SiLvOR Posted Friday at 12:44 Share Posted Friday at 12:44 Fuck sake man. I know it's been said a million times, but this is utterly ridiculous. Just hope after Osula's showing midweek we can be more comfortable taking Isak off early in games, before he ends up breaking down as well

To be fare his pressing has been measured. Think they are managing him over a game. Big Willie should be getting more game time until the never present Wilson is back! andycap Posted Friday at 15:19 Share Posted Friday at 15:19 Isak the same with gordon should be rested with 20 minutes to go every match if they're struggling when playing up top otherwise we'll be left with osula on his Todd which isn't what we wanted. Saving isak and Gordon's legs with a osula sub should keep them from breaking down.

Cristov Posted Friday at 15:30 Share Posted Friday at 15:30 This is too weird now, wonder if he has some kind of contract extension clause that the club don't want to trigger.

Armchair Pundit Posted Friday at 21:48 Share Posted Friday at 21:48 Wanted by Fulham, Southampton, Crystal Palace and Brentford in January apparently... of course, to Crystal Palace we'd need to be starting off at £50m... then raising it by £5m each week, until the end of the transfer window

KaKa Posted Friday at 22:27 Share Posted Friday at 22:27 With his contract about to run out, and if there's interest in January, maybe he's protecting himself in order to secure a move and a new longer term deal. Pushing himself to feature for Newcastle at the minute and getting a major set back won't be in his best interests. Not a great situation for us to be in. I think this summer is a great opportunity to bring down the average age of the squad. Depending on how the likes of Leo Shahar and Trevan Sanusi are shaping up, I’d be tempted to clear the decks of back ups in certain positions and rely on the yoofs. Yeah we won’t have the money to replace him in Jan as well go for a RW unless he’s moved on (highly unlikely) so we’ll probably keep hold of him until the end of the season and hope we can get some use out of him. You can't replace something that doesn't exist. Let him go, save the wages, plan for the summer.

Shak Posted Saturday at 08:24 Share Posted Saturday at 08:24 Nice to hear he's building his load. A little patience can lead to a much more satisfying sensation in these situations, I've found.
