I know Man U kept players past their sell by date under Ferguson but they weren’t players for key positions, were usually ‘fill a gap’ sorts and could meaningfully participate at least. I hope it wasn't that we really wanted to keep him because we think he's really valuable. We'd have to be very thick to believe that.
