toontownman Posted Saturday at 13:47 Share Posted Saturday at 13:47 I think by now Callum has probably started to come to the conclusion that being a backup striker is a reality unless he is going down a league or moving abroad to a lower level. He just isn't reliable fitness wise. I'm not sure he is worth a new deal at this point. A year ago when he was reportedly pushing for a move I would have kept him as backup to help the younger strikers like Osula. Now I think it's either him or Osula and we need to bring another in to prepare for Isaks eventual departure. However If keeping Callum another year enables us to strengthen elsewhere, I am OK with it.

I can’t write the future. I can’t predict what’s going to happen. I’d never write Callum Wilson off." Gone in the summer then!

Miggys First Goal Posted Saturday at 13:51 Share Posted Saturday at 13:51 Eddie, I love you, but you’re wrong on this one. There ain’t a future for Callum here.
r0cafella Posted Saturday at 13:55 Share Posted Saturday at 13:55 No, just no. He can't be a back up if he's never fit.
JT24 Posted Saturday at 13:56 Share Posted Saturday at 13:56 Let’s be honest, everyone out of contract this summer is getting a new one.
frankpingel Posted Saturday at 13:56 Share Posted Saturday at 13:56 Hopefully he stays fit for the remainder of the season so a decision can be made. If he breaks down again the club can't offer him anything surely.
Shak Posted Saturday at 13:56 Share Posted Saturday at 13:56 It just seems like it'd be a shite deal for all parties, from a financial point of view. We'll save a few bob but be paying what you'd imagine will still be a significant salary for a player who will probably gives us ten appearances in the season and will most likely look like a shadow of his former self for them. Meanwhile, Wilson has some name value and could probably get paid a really nice amount for a couple of years from some Saudi club, where the inferior level of play will allow him to play and train less intensely, giving him a better chance of staying fit for extended periods. That all said, maybe he and his family are just really happy here and want to settle down somewhere that they'll be happy. He's doubtless got enough money to live very comfortably so might just be willing to make and play a lot less to have a more stable situation. If that's the case then fair play to him, honestly. I wouldn't want us to keep him unless it's a very cheap deal, though.
Lush Vlad Posted Saturday at 13:56 Share Posted Saturday at 13:56 That would be one where hopefully Mitchell, with the help of the data provided by Bunce. Along with basically just looking at his injury history. Would overrule Howe. Utter madness if we gave him a new deal.

The College Dropout Posted Saturday at 14:09 Share Posted Saturday at 14:09 If he drops the wages in half. Happy to play 20 minutes at the end of games and the odd cup game…. I kinda like it. I do love Wilson though and sentimental. If the wages are low enough - I’m for it.

The College Dropout Posted Saturday at 14:11 Share Posted Saturday at 14:11 My assumption is Wilson is on 70-100k. £40k 1 year deal plus generous bonuses for appearances and goals. I’m for it.

Can’t stay fit for 5 minutes and even when he is playing. He has looked a shadow of his former self this season and last.
