Elliot Anderson (now playing for Nottingham Forest)

He’s got lovely feet, especially his left. Can cut the ball inside deceptively easy and has a knack for getting a yard of space to get a shot off. In terms of our attacking options, he looks like he’s next in line after Isak in terms of dribbling ability / beating a man with skill but that’s perhaps more of a reflection on the quality of dribblers in our squad more than anything else

The time to loan him out was last season. He looks ready for a breakout season now.

Maybe the fact the first didn't happen has helped with the second? Maybe he's benefitted more under Howe's coaching methods than he would have done playing for Preston?

And training day in day out with a very good premiership team.

He does seem comfortable on his left for a right-footer mind.

I think the new way to do it is to keep the prospects around. Players that get sent out on loan usually get sold later on. Better to drill them in your team with good coaching.

Makes sense if it works.

Ffs. Said he's "pushing", man. Doesn't mean he is. I agree with him. Happy to have him in the matchday squad, even starting league Cup games.

Really torn on Anderson. He needs game time to continue developing but we also need depth as we saw at the end of last season. While it's not best case scenario for him we likely have to keep him and Miley until January. If everyone is fit though it would be hard to get consistent games. He will for sure get minutes with the amount of fixtures we have though, probably Miley too.

Think it just goes to show there's no 'correct' route to taking a step up. I appreciate the club obviously needs to support youth players in their development but it feels like it's very much on the player if they make it once they're 18 or so.

Loans were probably more beneficial when we were an absolute shit state of a club and it was better for them to just not be around a manager like Bruce. If the club is professional like ours finally is then hopefully they can progress the way Anderson seemingly has without a loan.

i don’t think minutes will be an issue - it’s better to be in this environment than being loaned imo - you learn a hell of a lot more at the club than you would do elsewhere - the only time this is any different is if you are here in the Ashley era and have Bruce and his poor coaching staff working with you on a 5-4-1 system

We were very lucky last season with injuries, it's unlikely we'll have all of Joelinton, Bruno and Longstaff available for such a huge amount of the season with the added European games too like we did the season just gone.

He'll get minutes, as well as Miley. If anyone gets injured, one or both might end up starting a fair few games too.

He's also far better than Vuckic ever was.  He's already come on numerous times last season and made a genuine impact.  See no reason he can't push the first team with regular sub appearances.  Definitely something special about him.
