Boey_Jarton
Thought he was superb last night. So comfortable on the ball and has bags of energy and drive
Coffee_Johnny
Really happy for the lad. No doubt a big wrench (and slap in the face) being pulled away from boyhood club, rewarded with being relied upon and putting in a magnificent season, also rewarded with a much improved contract no doubt, then topped off with an international European trophy. What a year!

I thought he was a good squad player for us, but never really made a decisive impact when he came on. I would much prefer to have kept him, we got robbed at £15m, but that was out of our hands. Aye this. Was always a great move for him. At 35m it looked a good deal for us at first. A £10m overpay at the low end. Then at £15m when you consider Vlad it was a great coup for them at the time. But now it’s a complete steal. Edited 5 hours ago by The College Dropout
OverThere
And this is why Stavely is no longer with us. Disastrous mishandling of the finances.

Why are you pinning that on Staveley when Darren Eales was CEO from July 22 and from what we know PIF had final sign-off on all big financial decisions? Staveley probably had to leave because of her own finances rather than the club's.
Skeletor
Staveley, responsible for rescuing the club from Ashley, giving hope and belief back to fans, Eddie Howe, Champions League football and inevitably her legacy led us to our first domestic trophy in 70 years. Awful person she is, boo her.
The College Dropout
IMO we would be in a better place now if she was still here. She would’ve learnt from that and maybe needed stronger controls from PIF/Eales. Amanda-less Newcastle don’t seem to get much done business wise. Whitley mag
Bit galling we’ve still got Longstaff and Willock, when this lad would have been perfect for us going forward.
Smal
Staveley and Ghoduossi’s whole thing was how well connected they were to the Saudi’s/PIF. We can only speculate of course but I don’t think it’s a leap to say they’ll have had the necessary connections to get deals and financing green lit (Isak, Tonali etc.) much quicker than whoever is responsible for that now(???). It really is a shame they’re gone.

It's pretty amazing that many seem to emphasise the latter over the former though. A 'safe' pair of hands is pointless if you've got nothing worthwhile to protect. It was obvious in December 2021 that we were predestined to have a serious run in with PSR - so long as anyone wanted us to achieve more than with Ashley, it was just a question of when and how. Building things is far far harder than sitting still and letting them rot to pieces under the guise of steady, sober leadership.
