He just doesn't trust his body to hold up under the pressures of nowadays football.

So he just fannies about half arsing it which isn't good enough for a team like us anymore.

Playing with the handbrake on, you can see it when he's "carrying" the ball upfield, 2023 Willock gets in behind and strips his marker, now he's turning back and passing back into midfield or walking into a dead end and losing it.

Where does this stuff about him being late and not caring come from?

I don’t rate him at all but I think he’s been much better this season than the end of last. Of course I would upgrade if possible still.

Video top of the page, the players saying he gets fined a lot

Multiple on record statements in multiple interviews with multiple teammates across multiple seasons. Can't say he doesn't care for sure I suppose, but other than that he's pretty bang to rights.

As a b person I feel compelled to play devils advocate here and say that it doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't care just because he is a bit late from time to time. It could just mean he really struggles to get up in the morning.

As long Howe is happy with him I think we should give him the benefit of the doubt.

Tend to agree overall, particularly with the Howe bit. But does indicate he struggles to manage his own life.

The fact the players, including Bruno, joke about it indicates it's not that serious like. It's embarrassing being late for training when you're paid grands a week like, and it indicates he doesn't have the kind of attitude top athletes need to have in order be their best, but it doesn't mean he 'doesn't care' or is a dickhead or anything.

Howe's comments in the presser were quite telling.

Basically saying without saying that he’s not doing enough in training and then not taking his chance when he does get minutes on the pitch.

Won’t be surprised if he’s loaned out in January.

What did he say?

He probably needs to drop a level where he doesn't need to sprint about as often his body obviously cannot handle it. It's hard to blame him checking out tbf, working day in day out to build up your fitness to play a couple of games and be back on the treatment table would batter your head.

For a player who is a midfielder, to have worked with Howe for almost 4 years now, to look as clueless and lost as he does when he does play is inexcusable.

Confidence can account for a lack of touch, progressive passes and mistakes with directing a pass away from a pressing opponent.

But he just seems to take up all the wrong positions and looks, well lost. Low footballing IQ but good on the break, we've got/had a few of them. A team that controls possession can't carry players like this.

Can’t find the Howe comments anywhere

It was fairly short, I think it was Edwards who asked about him and said he looked down leaving the pitch on Wedneday. EH just said any player who isn’t playing has to train at a high level and take their opportunity when they get time on the pitch.
