Ameritoon
Lionel Messi wants to leave Barcelona but the most in-demand person in football might just be Nick De Marco QC. Football shut its doors for the coronavirus pandemic but the barrister has since worked for the Professional Footballers’ Association in opposing salary caps and acted for Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday in their financial fair play cases with the EFL. De Marco, along with Shaheed Fatima QC, will work for Mike Ashley and Newcastle United in their dispute over the Premier League rejecting a takeover bid from a Saudi Arabia-backed consortium. It is fair to say De Marco’s work goes from the top to the bottom of football, from £300million takeovers and advising England players on their image rights, to representing Stevenage last season when a League Two game was postponed and charges dismissed. Those who work with him privately say he is the best in the sports business. De Marco is not limited to football and has acted for Tyson Fury in various disputes. The world heavyweight boxing champion is quoted on his barrister’s own Twitter profile: “QC that really packs a punch.” His current work also includes working for gymnasts in potential abuse claims against British Gymnastics. In football, his significant cases have been high-profile and his reputation makes him sought-after when legal help is needed. Jake Livermore avoided suspension after a hearing into testing positive for cocaine, with the Football Association taking into account "the specific and unique nature of the circumstances". The Hull City player’s test was shortly after the death of his newborn son Jake Junior. Wayne Hennessey’s FA charge for an alleged Nazi salute was “not proven” by an independent regulatory commission, with the Crystal Palace goalkeeper insisting he did not know what they gesture was. Stevenage coach Mark Sampson, the former England Women’s boss, saw a case dismissed for the alleged use of racist language. Other high-profile in the last year includes Peter Beardsley, which saw the Newcastle coach banned from football for 32 weeks. Jay Rodriguez, while at West Bromwich Albion, had charges dismissed of racially aggravated misconduct. When football closed this year, De Marco advised the PFA during the pandemic as players were discussing deferrals and is acting for them in opposition to the proposed EFL salary cap. De Marco has also acted for football agent in their dispute with FIFA over the governing bodies over proposals for reform and regulation, which is an ongoing case. He has also represented individual agents in disputes or FA matters. He spoke to Telegraph Sport during lockdown about the status of player contracts and how clubs could not force extensions of those whose contracts were expiring. “You cannot force a player to remain playing for a club after his contract has expired, and you cannot force him to accept a short term temporary contract,” he said. De Marco’s view was also there was the possibility of a legal case following the “ghost goal” at Villa Park when Sheffield United had a goal ruled out despite Hawk-eye technology being used. Guest Cheesy Beans
Brighton with pin stripes looks wrong. They look like Ipswich or Birmingham. Why going down the even more generic route? Not sure what Ashley’s lawyers will do about that.

As soon as the page starts opening, the very 'second' it has started, click on "Esc" at the top left of your keyboard, if you are using a standard keyboard. There may be another way to do it, but that's what I do. It works every time, but you have to be QUICK !!
