Can't imagine many people want to go to Saudi... There is zero chance of them having a hub out of Newcastle. A route maybe, but again, the demand wouldn’t exactly be large. The tourist demand to Saudi isn’t very big, compared to Dubai. The North East doesn’t even have a Muslim population large enough to justify a pilgrim to Mecca route. At the moment, the UK is allowed 3,500 pilgrims per year. Even if they were all flying out of Newcastle (doubtful), it’s not exactly huge numbers. I wouldn't pay for that Emirates flight because the prices have gone through the roof over the last year or so; the thought of being trapped next to Gaz Beadle wannabes reduces the appeal further.
