McCormick Posted October 11, 2021 Share Posted October 11, 2021 (edited) Despite all the dreaming and silliness (of which I’ve been sucked into of course!) we’re probably a good 500 million plus pounds, along with an exceptional operation structure, away from being a perennial Champions league contender. I’d be more than happy if we were in a similar position to Everton in 2-3 years time (solid upper mid-table club looking to push on). They are all plucked out of the air as we dont even have a new manager in place. Im paying more attention to the Sporting Director talk as that, for me, is the 1st building block and will likely dictate what manager they will bring in. In regards to league position and how long. By the end of next season, I could well see us in the top 10 - possibly pushing for a Europa slot. I dont think the gap between us and the teams upto top 7 is that big. It just that Ashley wasn't interested in aiming higher and Bruce, well, all he aims for is getting a full breakfast, anything else is a bonus! There is something quite hypocritical about sports journalism though - they’re complete enablers of sportswashing by continuously writing articles, podcasting etc. So it’s not just fans that are in a moral quandary. The best thing to do would be to take an ethical stance and stop writing about us, Man City, PSG, but they’ll not do that because football is football and the news cycle needs to be fed.
