The way I see it, Keegan was the inventor, the blueprint is his, but as an engineer he had flaws. Whereas Howe has refined Keegan's blueprint and is a master engineer.

There's a clear line between the two imo, Howe's basically like a streetwise Keegan.

I feel like he's a Keegan-Rafa hybrid. Anything is possible, especially with a meticulous game plan.

Plus the general likability of Bobby. You only have to look at how he's spoken about by others outside of Newcastle in the game.

Could always appreciate what he did for us and how much he's moved us on since those dark days, but just never thought he quite had enough about him to win anything here, more based on gut feeling than anything else tbf, but never been so happy to be so wrong.

I want to see him properly backed in the market and see how far he can take us, with the pressure of first cup off our backs we really have a chance to soar to even bigger heights if we get the ingredients right 👍

Thank you Edward.

Funny how gut feelings work. I just felt that it was just right when he was hired. I was only basing it off of Bournemouth and fantasies about him being our Steve Kerr, but I just felt that this was our guy.

Truth of the matter is that our gut feelings could have equally been right, since they both were based off of incomplete information. First ten games and it was looking a bit grim. Thankfully he weathered that. And here we are.

He’s Eddie Fucking Howe

Have to agree, he’s the greatest in my lifetime. I love Keegan more than anyone else in football but Howe’s a better manager and has achieved more

Totally this.

@Alan Pardew need your opinion on young Eddie's achievements King?

Great manager Young Eddie - He come in and saved you lot from relegation and never looked back really.
He might get 5th this season. I also got 5th. Difference is he has players like Isak, Tonali and Toni Guimaraes available to him while The King had to make do with cloggers who ended up in the Championship and even League One later in their careers.

Probably why I won LMA manager of the year while Young Eddie likely won’t.

Both of us great managers.

Bottle of red for me later tonight - that 8 year contract served me well.

See ya later lads.

These guys at skysports doesn't understand the game at all.. Aye, we're in the relegation zone, but if we just spend an insane amount on a manager who has only been at top clubs, we will start climbing the table immidiately. Because they have so much experience in fighting relegation and managing a squad full of bottom table quality, they really want to come to fight relegation instead of the biggest trophies, and we have unlimited money to spend without any regulations in place. That's just how it all works.

Thank you Unai Emery.. I rate him highly, but the universe smiled upon us with this one.

Aye great manager but I doubt Villa fans would even contemplate swapping him for Howe. Emery saying no to us was a massive win/win.

To be fair, there’s nothing to suggest Emery would not have done as good of a job, he’s been just as transformative for Villa as Howe has been for us. I’d be surprised if he doesn’t win them a trophy by the end of next season. Could well be the FA Cup this year, more than likely in the semi final and only one of Sky’s six left.

Wouldn’t swap him got Howe and not saying anyone here is doing it but Emery has got to be one of the most disrespected managers of the modern era. I honestly think it’s just that stint at Arsenal. Hes got an insane record. 3 Europas on the bounce and then another with Villarreal. Great manager

I don't think Emery is disrespected at all, if anything I'd say the opposite.

He doesn't come across as well as Howe, all the good ebening bants etc.
Howe is more of a fit for us I'd say.

With Monchi and Villa, the Spanish connection and their style of recycling the squad every summer, he fits better over there.

Howe prefers stability, continuity etc as a big part of his approach is team bonding, identity, work ethic and culture.
Emery is more of a master tactician

Unlike Emery, I love how Howe’s career is on this journey with us if that makes sense. Kind of makes Sunday sweeter that it wasn’t just a huge moment for us the way we got that monkey off our backs but same with Howe getting his first major trophy. He will no doubt be on cloud 9. And no doubt hungry for more.

Tactically he got it so spot on, the level of prep for the game obviously started weeks ago when he didn’t show our full hand at Anfield. The set piece tactic worked a fucking treat. After rewatching the game in full it would’ve been a travesty if we hadn’t won the game, we played the best team in the country by some distance off the park.

I want this to be the first of many that he wins us. But regardless of what happens he goes down in history as one of our best ever. I don’t think it’s fair comparing him to Keegan, as the circumstances were different. But his name belongs in the same breath and ultimately he is the man who has brought us silverware.

Our best manager in the last 50 years. Look at what he inherited, what he’s improved, look at what he’s done with what he’s had, look at the restrictions he has that others didn’t, look at the competition he faces domestically and abroad, and yes, SBR and KK are legends for what they did in football and what they did for us. Howe to me is firmly their bracket first of all, but secondly, for me he’s all time. The thing I want to stress is this - we are just getting started under Eddie.

Bring it on.
