Nice article just appeared on BBC

Loved this bit...

Players' days off were reduced while training sessions were brought forward to an earlier time and became more intense.

"Jonjo Shelvey said that when Howe first came in he would be so tired by the training that he would be in bed by 8pm,"

Can imagine it was a culture shock from starting at midday and finishing for lunch under his predecessor

I thought we were going to have to win by defending and sneaking a goal from somewhere. I should have known better. Just like when we were battling relegation, we took the game to the opposition in a positive manner and fully deserved our success.

I don't know how Eddie does it, but I'm so glad he's ours.

Must be an absolute ball ache to have to do all those media interviews at full time when all he wants to do is just get back in the changers and get on the session.

From hearing from the players and different people, the doubts I had about Howe learning from past mistakes to help take us forward, he's put to bed.

Clearly learned from last final, changed everything about the approach to this one, and nailed it with the aggression. Gives me increased confidence that if we back him with the right players, he can be here for rest of the decade and he only goes when he feels mentally done and it's a parting of ways with great memories.

Love the fact that we didn't park the bus. We went at them properly and got the sweetest of rewards. 10/10. Living legend.

The only bus we’re parking is the victory parade open top

Just watched the full match again this morning. Then I've been reading about how Eddie was thinking of his late mum at full time, and how he ignored his media duties to go charging towards our fans with the cup.

Still in dreamland and this guy is a legend to me forever now. What a man and what a manager.

Keegan will forever and always be number one but Eddie wins the everyone else cup hands down now.

Two different managers for two different eras. No one lifted the club like Keegan did, the man walked on water, and put us on the global map. Emotianally no one will ever surpass him in Geordie hearts, and I think that Love it we beat You video says everything.

But Howe has that tactical cold side of him that you need to win trophies, and difficult to argue with silverware. He's the complete manager.

Rightly being given a huge amount of credit for his tactical masterclass yesterday (even Slot seemed to acknowledge in his post-match press conference that Howe outsmarted him) but also needs to be given a huge amount of credit for how he managed the build-up to the game.

Evidently he learned big lessons from the final two years ago and kept the players more isolated from the noise around the final, including staying in a hotel further away from Wembley - several of the players mentioned how important that was in their interviews. He also opted not to reveal our hand against Liverpool in the PL match a couple of weeks ago, and has been drilling the lads on set pieces specifically for this game for two weeks. None of this didn't came at the expense of a very solid away win at West Ham in the immediate run up to the final.

If we do get into the CL next season this bodes very well for us. Management of big games at the elite level is probably one of the hardest skills to acquire for a coach, especially one who like Howe who started off at the bottom of the pyramid. We knew he had the tactical nous, but now we know he can do this I’m feeling even better about the future with him.

That was an absolute masterclass

What makes it even better is that he was up against a guy that's had longer and way more resources than him and he schooled him

A lot of people just assumed the 5 at the back meant we were going to sit in our box and just defend, doubt anyone expected to see Schar/Burn press so high to the pitch and it worked an absolute treat

Obviously we all want to win the final but I badly want us to win it for him, I know he won't be thinking that way and for him it will be about the players and the fans but I'll be thinking about him

And seeing his reactions was bloody worth it

He's always on it and thinking about the next game but chuffed he can enjoy this moment, the International break had come at a wonderful time

For those that backed Howe from the start and never wavered despite some poor results/performances at times this does feel a bit extra special

I know it's petty but I've been active in bringing up comments in various whatsapp chats where some said his time was up and that he has no plan B etc etc, I considered being the bigger man and ignoring it but felt those people had to be shamed so that when we do have a bad run in the future they can not be so hasty

Knowing what he's like he won't settle for this, he'll be working his socks off to make sure this is just the start

We are so lucky to have him and I hope he's here for a long, long time

My gaffer 😎

Honestly think we're going to smash the end of the season now. Have a taste of what it's like to be a really dominant, winning team.

Yep, think this cup win will raise the levels of players like Murphy to really believe they are winners.

That moment when the whistle goes and players are dropping to their knees and others are sprinting away celebrating, and the camera just cuts to Howe calmly and politely shaking hands with Slot. Top class all round.

Saw other teams fans describing him as "hateful" I'm sorry but other than pathetic tribalistic, 'hate everything that isn't my team' mentality, how is he hateful?

I know I can't look at this as a neutral but if I was to compare him to pretty much every manager out there he is the most calm inoffensive respectful guy in the league. Just don't get how anyone could hate him but I guess I might have answered my own question.

Nobody thinks this way about Howe. You sure that wasn't just Liverpool fans yesterday after an upsetting defeat?

Was in tears watching his interview talking about his mum and kids. Fucking Hell man Eddie. You absolute legend.

Aye, was probably the most beautiful moment of listening to Eddie Howe. Shows whilst a master at switching off emotions that underneath that there's a vulnerability that appeals to us all.
