Turned off when he said Schar was the worst centre-back in the league pre-Howe.

Genuinely seen this opinion unthinkingly repeated by loads, that Schar was hopeless pre Howe. It's almost like Bruce spent 2 years briefing friendly uncritical journos that the reason schar wasn't playing was cos he was a shit forren soft type and somehow that has filtered through.

Has Enrique ever talked about Newcastle since he did a U-turn on coming here after the takeover? I didn't see any mention in yesterday's press conference or in today's touchline interview, whereas Howe spoke about how well it had worked out for him in both interviews. Publicly acknowledged what a great job Emery has done, where again I'm hearing nothing about Howe coming from the Villa manager.

Not sure who Enrique is, but here's what Emery said recently.

I don't know how much truth there was in it, but there was talk that Emery felt Howe shouldn't have been mentioned in the same breath as him when we were interviewing for the manager's position after binning Big Steve Bruce. "Who is this Eddie Howe?" or words to that effect.

Needs to drop Burn sharpish. Really weird decision to keep him on when he's been poor for yonks.

Got absolutely schooled today, for the first time in a very long time.

Poor day at the office.

I mean, we've been on a 5 match winning streak to be fair.

But I am hoping this is an opportunity to re-examine the situation.

Do think we need to adjust and have more a plan b to use against certain opponents.

I think we used a plan b and c today. Just weren't up to it.

At least with Eddie you can expect good things to come out of this. They will identify the faults and work on them.

Pretty much this, we had a rough patch this season and he managed to turn it around, hopefully this game will result in a positive change  for the next game.

I mean more from start of games, our typical style was always going to play into villa hands today. Would have liked a different approach and then adjust as the game progresses.

I dont think it was so wrong.
They attacked our weaknesses really well:

Pressed Big dan every time he had the ball and forced mistakes.

Pinned bruno down with two pressing him in the middle.

diagonals and over the top balls to watkins to exploit schar and tripps lack of pace.

Also they seemed a hell of a lot more up for it and were shithousing every possible out there.

We just couldnt get going at all.
