Season form for 10 mostly hard PL fixtures, 3 games in CL group of death, and now Man City home and Man Utd away in the Carabao.

P15 W8 D3 L4

That's in eleven games vs. top half of PL or better opposition.

The man is a legend in the making. Who else could put out a team with Dummett and Krafth playing centre backs when it's neither's natural position, play Matt Ritchie when he can barely run these days, and beat Man U at their own ground 3-0? It's unbelievable. It's like Keegan's been reborn in the modern era with an infusion of ice running through his veins.

Anyone else really curious as to how the Matt Targett in the deep Bruno midfield role experiment would have turned out. ?

Was the most unexpected performance looking at the line up but it just proves why he is levels above the likes of Ten Hag. He makes perceived shit players look good and functional.

Easiest sub to make when Targett has to come off is to bring on Burn and have Hall play midfield (might have been the plan anyway tbh, even though in the first minute Hall was LB). Puts Miggy on instead who goes on and score, plays a big part in the second goal and could have got an assist for Wilson.

Such brilliant management from Eddie there, when 2 minutes into the game he had to change the game plan.

Targett was at LB and Hall was in midfield for what it’s worth.

The change brought on Miggy at LM and moved Hall back.

Eddies interview he says they were looking to play Targett in midfield, and on the highlights you can see Targett playing as a DM. Assuming they would have swapped around quite a bit anyways. Miggy at LM worked really well as we simply overloaded them with Joe W, Hall and Miggy down that side.

Aye, was great to see how there was always an extra man down our left hand side. Obviously Howe knows about Ritchies limitations, so preferred us attacking as far away from him as possible too

Absolutely love the guy. Tactical genius. Extraordinary work ethic. Superb man-management.  Handles press conferences with class, modesty, intelligence and a nice sense of humour. Inspires confidence all round. A perfect match for the club. We're lucky to have him (and he's lucky to have us.) Hope he has a tenure comparable to Wenger and Ferguson.

Just been nice seeing players like Krafth, Ritchie and Dummett have "their moment" even though domestic cup games are probably all they'll see for us. Might suit us playing the bigger clubs with these line-ups where we're starting the games with a more solid system, these players are stepping up above their normal level and the opposition are thinking they'll piss it, rather than someone like Everton or West Ham who'd take it as a sign to go all out at us as it's a chance to knock us out.

Think it was @Wullie who pointed out once that sometimes a manger just suits a club at a certain time.

Think the example was Brendan Rodgers. I know he gets flack but he’s had some good teams and his Swansea weren’t bad at all considering the budget. His previous spell was a bit of a car crash at Reading. He obviously went on to some very very good teams after Swansea.

EH did exceptionally well at Bournemouth but not so much at Burnley. It would be hard to predict how well he end up doing here.

As much as it might him……it could also be the present incarnation of the club. The owners and the new ethos, the fan’s enthusiasm post takeover. Could just be a great match. Long may it continue.

So in one game he's found extra cover at CB (Krafth) an option in Brunos position (Joelinton) and someone who can do a decent job up front (Gordon). Fully expecting Richie to go in goal or some shit.

That would have been the logical selection (and some score apps have it that way) but I don't think it actually was. Targett was definitely in CM when we kicked off with Hall at LB.
