jackyboy
We have probably 6/7 players who are top notch. They have to play really well to cover for our weaker players and they can't do that every week. When a couple or more of our top players have an off day , like yesterday, it makes the whole side look average. We have made incredible strides during the EH era and made some great signings, Trippier was the start and we've added to that. Hopefully we will add a couple more over the next few months

Thumbheed Posted Saturday at 20:38 Share Posted Saturday at 20:38 (edited) Howe is turning excellent players into elite players and doing that without a world class infrastructure to support. The only limit to what he can achieve at this club is PSR. Edited Saturday at 21:03 by Thumbheed
HaydnNUFC Posted Saturday at 21:43 Share Posted Saturday at 21:43 (edited) Our record at coming from behind to pick points up this season must be mad. Edited Saturday at 21:45 by HaydnNUFC
HaydnNUFC Posted Saturday at 21:47 Share Posted Saturday at 21:47 Had a deek; 15 points gained from losing positions this season.
Danh1 Posted Saturday at 21:49 Share Posted Saturday at 21:49 Considering in the not too distant past we’ll have went full seasons without coming from behind to win, that is impressive.

A record that always stuck in my mind; we did not win at St. James' in the PL when behind at half time for 12 years. December 2006 vs Reading all the way to Man City under Benitez in January 2019. Lush Vlad Posted yesterday at 09:30 Share Posted yesterday at 09:30 Had the Football Daily on this morning and they had a Bournemouth podcast host on. He said Iraola is a better coach/manager than Howe and basically all Bournemouth fans would agree? Is that being incredibly harsh and loaded with recency bias? I know he has them playing some outrageously good stuff and certainly punching above their weight. He has also got the better of Howe in most of their meetings so far and they've played the better stuff. Small sample size and mitigating circumstances in at least one of those games. But then are they also not a more established club at this level now and their scouting has developed massively over time? They're spending decent money for a club of their size. But certainly investing it wisely. Who is one of the main people they have to thank for getting them to such a strong position in the first place.....? I know Brighton have come back from the brink and I'm sure I have missed clubs from history that have done something similar. But I can't think of a manager that has taken a club from -17 in League Two. All the way through to the Premier League and then staying there for 5 seasons. I'd also add that whilst they are flying at the minute. Has it not been proven over time that styles and systems get found out and teams and coaches need to keep evolving. He's not had to do that too much yet, has he? Might be totally wrong on that, mind. We have certainly found that out under Howe and he has tweaked things over the years with varying degrees of success. But he has changed formation, tactics, style etc etc and has proven he can adapt. Even if he has taken longer than fans (including myself) were expecting some of the time. I thought it was interesting, anyway. As whilst there isn't a lot of competition. There has been a lot of talk on here about Howe being our best manager in the modern/Premier League era. But apparently Bournemouth fans don't think he is theirs? AyeDubbleYoo Posted yesterday at 10:25 Share Posted yesterday at 10:25 I mean, who knows what Bournemouth fans would say but I assume they all think he's a legend for basically saving the club. They're in a once-in-a-lifetime situation now so you could understand them getting a bit carried away with Iraola. Similar with Keegan/Howe for us in a way. CheikBoom Posted yesterday at 10:29 Share Posted yesterday at 10:29 I'm pretty sure Howe had mentioned that he spent time over at Rayo Vallecano watching Iraola's training methods before joining us. Even so, Newcastle's Howe is probably a better coach than Bournemouth's Howe. Both are fantastic managers in their own right.
Hanshithispantz Posted yesterday at 10:30 Share Posted yesterday at 10:30 I mean he's probably right. Iraola has Bournemouth playing better than Howe ever had them in the Premier League but Howe is a far better manager now than he was back then. If he hadn't taken a year out and learned how to defend he wouldn't have lasted here.

Graham Taylor springs to mind - he took Watford from Division Four to Division One, ending as runners-up to Liverpool and reaching an FA Cup final. duo Posted yesterday at 12:23 Share Posted yesterday at 12:23 I know we weren't at our best when we played Bournemouth but you can't deny that Iraola got the tactics spot on. We had no answer.
TRon Posted yesterday at 12:29 Share Posted yesterday at 12:29 Iraola looks destined for a big club anyway. My money is on him ending up at Spurs. Whether he's better than Howe only time will tell, but he won the head to head pretty comprehensively. Howe will need to sort them out in the return fixture. Ronaldo Posted yesterday at 12:43 Share Posted yesterday at 12:43 If you were a Bournemouth fan you could be forgiven for thinking they’ve got a better manager, mind. Not saying he is but in all of our meetings with Bournemouth since Eddie got the job we’ve looked second best despite having the better players.
