We really should utilise it more often - it fits our squad great. Always thought we had the players to pull it off successfully, although I get that Howe prefers to play one way so we can build on our identity. Bruno aside we don't have great methods of breaking down a low block. As good as Joelinton and Murpy have been, they are not top 6 players in terms of keeping the ball and moving it around. Murphy can play a great final pass but his general play and passing can be super wayward.

Bruno and Isak are arguably the only players in our side capable of unlocking a defence with something other than pace and power. For me, we need a #10 in the mould of peak-Erikson, Odegaard, Foden or someone of that ilk who can create something out of nothing when sides sit back against us or nullify our usual weapons. He's underrated by most because the majority of people still think we spent Saudi billions to get here, which also means any struggle is viewed as severely underperforming. Think also he’s not a big name ex player. English. Leans more on physicality than technical ability - less possession based. Not managed at a top 6 club or a fancy one abroad. Last season I felt the media wanted Ange to be great. A big part of that was the style of football. Di Zerbi similar in the past. Iraola has the big hype this season. Dont watch a lot of Bournemouth - they remind me of us. There I think being foreign is a bonus.

Coffee_Johnny Posted Sunday at 08:17 Share Posted Sunday at 08:17 Saw Eddie and crew's overall win percentage reported and thought I would break it down by competitions. Looks even more impressive when you add the cup games. We've done better in cups than league 67% wins vs 49% wins. Including winning 3 out of 4 penalty shoot-outs. One more league cup win this season and the LC win percentage breaks the 88% mark; so let's not lose sight of that with all this talk of trophies. We know what is really important.
