The way he talks about how managers can't come in and succeed with that squad stems from the narrative the media kept pushing about how Bruce was doing the best he could with a useless squad. We didn't have a great squad, but Bruce made it look so much worse. Just shows how those media narratives decides what many people think about teams that they don't follow closely themselves, and how it makes fans of other clubs delusional about us.

I agree with the last part, and said so myself. I was just a bit surprised by the fact that we only qualified twice through those 10 years or so. Not qualifying with second place seems brutal, and I had no idea that was a thing.

What'd they say?

I stopped listening to the tripe because when they don’t have much to say they end up just being massively overly negative, just to fill up a podcast. I made the mistake of signing up to their patreon and it was unbelievably negative, was right after Mandy and Mehrdad left and dumped them so they were cheesed off.

They were the same last summer, it’s just reactionary bollocks. They did a podcast claiming the Suadi's had lost all interest and were going to withdraw their investment after Ashworth moved on, followed by an episode a few days later declaring they were all back in big style after Mitchell was announced.

There seems to be an absence of anyone in their roster of presenters, capable of taking a step back and looking at the big picture. I guess it's just the content creator way now, everything is either utter terrible or utterly brilliant, god forbid something might be somewhere in the middle. But I guess that doesn’t work for engagement, so we have to live in made up binary position world, completely devoid of nuance.

Needless to say after several weeks of not making it through an episode due to the negativity, I binned off my Patreon subscription

Also stopped listening because one of them can not get trough any single sentence without saying “kind of”. Every other word is “kind of” or “sort of”. Also the way they always go on about “echoing” what each other has said. “Oh I’ll just echo was x has said”. Shut up. Match reaction doesn’t extend past “wuh class” “wuh shite”. Like you said there’s no nuance.

It's just dawned on me that, in the final stages of the League Cup, we played nearly 5 hours of football against the best two teams in the country, and conceded only one goal - against Liverpool, during stoppage time. Our manager sure knows how to organise a defence.

Once again, Eddie was right, we have been slow off the mark and missed out on Mbeumo, Guehi and now Joao Pedro.

Our directors need to listen to him better.

Won’t make a jot of difference if said players have their eye on:

1/  A particular club

2/ Mo money

Nothing to do with the speed of the deal.

If we aren’t that club and can’t compete on salary we move on.

Seems the choice is; move quickly and secure less-coveted targets (worse players), or gamble on 'wasting time' by trying to sign better players.

Mind you, when you've got professional gazumpers like Chelsea and Man City lurking around, you wonder if we'd miss out on top targets whether they're in the Premier League or Timbuktu.

Seems obvious that clubs we want to to buy off are alerting other teams,Our bid for Pedro might have gone in a few weeks ago.

If we bid £100 mill for him chelsea were gonna have a phonecall anyway

Isn't it down to Howe, his nephew and Nickson now? Mitchell has been out of the loop since the big meeting on the last day of the season. He's basically on garden leave until tomorrow. Not sure what role Eales is in currently mind.

In recent transfer windows, as we sit and watch the likes of Chelsea and Man United spend money unchecked as though they operate outside of the restraints we're chained by, the frustration bordering on apathy turns to pure admiration for Eddie and what he's been able to achieve. He really is the king. Chelsea can take Pedro, Man United can take Mbeumo, neither of them have a manager who is anywhere near the level of Eddie Howe, nor will they get one any time soon.

Sorry but this bloke is currently being let down massively atm. He's delivered a trophy and CL football despite no major first team signings for multiple windows and there's nothing backing him up off the park. Last season was a hell of a struggle at times but the results came and created genuine momentum and excitement and that needed to be built upon but there's been nothing since. Trafford could be close but that deal has been in the pipeline for more than a year. Howe's more than doing his part, the players have delivered and they're all being let down as we speak off the park

It's not good enough tbph. Match the stuff the players and management have done ffs. Get your shit in a pile and back this bloke up

We've acted with speed, we just went for the "wrong" players.

I assume we’re trying to buy the players he wants, but we’re finding they’re unattainable for us, which was quite predictable given we’re going after other premier league clubs best players. If it’s a case of us going after the wrong players then surely he’s also responsible.

That's how I read it as well.

Where about to find out how flexible Eddie is prepared to be in the transfer market, if he handcuffs the club to targets with PL experience then we’ll be looking at 3 signings tops as we just don’t have the budget.

Isn’t is all just a natural part of the process? I don’t think anyone’s “being let down” or “doing a bad job” really… it’s just the nature of the transfer market at the moment and the fact that we’re trying to be competitive for players we really want, but due to PSR predominantly, we’re struggling to compete on wages when one of the traditional big boys get involved.

I’m sure we will sign players, but to me it’s pretty clear we’re working through our list in ambition order (i.e. trying to get the ones we’ll have big competition for first).

Not the time to panic or point fingers, yet. Maybe in a month.

History and common sense tells us that Eddie signs plenty of players from abroad, without PL experience.
