I find all this criticism of the nephew to be pretty mean spirited. By all accounts he was heavily involved in some of our best signings, and is assumed to be at fault because he’s related to Eddie and other teams have been financially blowing us out of the water.

it reminds me of when Hughes at Bournemouth was linked here as DOF and people were like: oh look, another one of Howes hopeless mates.

now he’s at Liverpool and running the game.

His nephew is probably a smart guy, related to Eddie after all :)

But I just find it hard to see how Eddie can complain about how things how turned out when he by all accounts have huge control over what is going on.

The seeds will have been planted in his head this summer, for a potential exit at some point in the not too distant future. If we don't get our shit together I'm convinced he will be Man Utd's next manager.

The club is obviously a bit of a shambles currently but he isn’t blameless. Never give a manager full control over signings - it’ll be a disaster.

Our recruitment has been unbelievably poor this summer and these are his targets - all players attracting interest from cartel clubs - what did he expect? If you go after them you need to be ruthless and present a project worth playing for, but he has his nephew negotiating the deals and he appears to be useless.

He’s complained non stop about PSR, with that in mind being creative in this window was a must. I’ve seen people citing he wants established players and I get that, but he himself was quoted not long ago that’s extremely difficult for us to do.

Agree with most of this. He’s a brilliant football manager for us, but he’s clearly not an expert at everything. I think it’s pretty clear the focus on PL experience is one of his preferences. It’s crazy how many people on here and other places were suspicious of any DoF and wanted Eddie in control of everything.

Well lets see how it ends up. We have been a little "unlucky" so far with almost all of our targets being hijacked by the big 6, but they cant have them all and the transfer window is still open for a long time. I'm going to wait until the end of the window before making a judgement on his new bigger role here.

Wouldn't blame him if he decided to jack it in, pending the outcome of this window. If he's had enough of the bloody cowboy outfit upstairs I could completely understand it.

Alternative framing.

He has an ally coming on board in Wilson, with a new CEO also inbound, further strengthening his position at the club.

There's still money spend, but we need to operate smarter in the transfer market. That's something he also needs to recognise and take on board.

the fact he's "in charge" of transfers etc isn't even his fault  but thats what you get when you hire sackless beta yes men.

if you're brought it to do a job (especially at that level), you better be able to get your ideas and processes across.

if you're being outmanoeuvred by a football man, a mere "head coach" you're out of your depth.

EDDIE FOREVER

They are still Man Utd. If he wanted out of here he'd jump at the chance of managing them. For a start he wouldn't have to deal with the frustration of not being able to meet player wage demands. And sooner or later they will get their shit together.

He didn't chase Ashworth out. By all accounts Ashworth was pushing Man U to go and get Howe to come to them, so hardly seems likely if he was being pushed out of here by Howe.

A sensible take. Yes he's going to be annoyed how things have panned out under Eales and Mitchell, but he is in charge now, and by the end of it should have the board above that he can work with. Hopefully we'll be in a good place by the end of the summer.

Aye they had some friction but that is normal.

Maybe I’m over reacting. But this feels like the worst window ever. Just because of expectations. CL secured, trophy secured - act fast in the window. Let’s go and build a side to compete.  And we are having a mare. The club has been exposed.

Get Wizza in and that’ll be a crumb of hopium [emoji38] Hope we get him.

Wonder when he will have to meet the press now they have landed?

Feel so sorry for him so much weight put on himself for his own high standards and now the roles of others while trying to mediate the shit show of our current transfer position and that was before the Isak shit fest turning into a full blown shit sandwich.

He dealt with all of this and more at Bournemouth as a lot younger man. He can deal with it, he shouldn’t have to, but you couldn’t want for a better man in these circumstances.

I'd dread to think what this lot would be like at getting a new manager in, considering they can't even sign players.

What makes it worse is that he went through the same shit with Ashworth before Mitchell landed.
