We are not clicking fully in attack and other parts of the game, but you got applaud the defence.

It's games like this that a mean defence is the difference between winning and losing.

I think tactically Howe has been ok this season so far. But he deserves huge credit for fitting in the new players. It’s never an easy job, look at the scousers.

He must have gave them a bollocking at half time cause we looked a very different unit in the second half. Been a slow start so hopefully we kick on.

Exactly.

When we're not playing brilliant, if your defence is as solid as ours has been, you still have a great chance of winning the game.

First half was pretty crap, but we still looked solid at the back.

That gave us the platform and opportunity to improve second half (which we did, massively) and go on to win the game.

Starting to doubt your devotion, like. He’s clearly the best.

Rightly so. You're right.

He's changed tactics on 2 or 3 occasions, reinvented us season after season. Made like a dozen good signings and improved every single player under his leadership.

Just to top it off he's been humble and as uncontroversial as possible

Absolute fucking diamond.

He's had such a massive job, not just bringing in the new players into the team but planning for life after Voldemort, Woltemade is a very different player that brings very different qualities to the team and that creates a huge shift in how we have to play, we struggled at the start of the season as we tried to work it out but now we're starting to see the green shoots of that endeavour.

It cannot be understated how much damage the sulky swede did, not just to preparations and a lack of a striker for a number of games, but we bought players and made plans that became void when he left. Howe has taken it in his stride and I have the upmost trust that he will have us firing on all cylinders again soon. Simply irreplaceable.

You only have to look at Postecoglou and see how he is struggling to reinvent his philosophy or style of play. Howe has done that for us numerous times already and when he's had a tough spell he's shut his mouth, worked harder and found solutions without blaming anyone but himself.

Feels like things starting to click. That second half was much more like us.

Agree. I don't think it was fluent or flashy football, but we rattled them and created quite a few chances even not at our best. The fluency will come, but this looked more like a trademark Howe side which is all about intensity. It will get better.

9 shots on target and 8 corners we had yesterday which is good going. The second half we had 7 and 5 of those so you could see we created a lot more.

Those numbers don't account for the blocked Woltemade chance from Morato's slip-up or the one he put onto the post either.

Strange really as it felt really disjointed for best part of an hour but the stats suggest we created loads of decent chances.

In the second half it felt much better, I said during half time that I found the last 10 minutes of the first half encouraging. Wasn’t so much the chances we created but the team was functioning much better together towards the end of the half.

It continued in the second half and quite frankly if it wasn’t for Sels it could have been 4 or 5 by the end, which would have flattered us I think but it does show things were getting better as the game progressed.

Think it's going to be a huge test for us relying on Burn and Trippier at full back for so many games

Could try and mitigate it by asking Burn to stay home and Trips to push up into midfield when we have the ball to create the box that seems so in fashion atm.

                           Pope

      Thiaw         Botman         Burn

                 Trips            Tonalli

              Bruno              Ramsey

Elanga/                                     Gordon

                           Wolt

He has never brought a single thing upon us in terms of his quotes or statements about another team or player or our own. If there is ever shit in the press about our players it’s seemingly their own doing / agents doing!
