He has about 90% of fans I reckon and possibly even 99% of regular match going fans (see the fans singing EIEIEIO at 2-1). All made up numbers (I know). But you cannot ever fault his commitment and that of his team overall. He is an outstanding man manager, a bold (and sometimes stubborn), but wise tactician, the majority of signings under his tenure have been fantastic and above all else he's a really, really fucking decent human being. Long live the king. I couldn't agree more. Last night, we went a man down and then conceded an equaliser right on the stroke of half-time. That's a massive downer but he sent the players out looking fresh and focused like nothing had happened.
JP
He got it spot on with 10 men last night. 2nd half we played a 4-4-1 but our wingers slightly higher than cm's to force the ball to their full backs (who can't create naff all). Really nullified them considering they had the 1 man advantage.

I thought we would be better going into a low block and playing on the counter, but fair play, he made it look like we were still playing with eleven. Final moments + full time whistle of the League Cup final 2. Isak LC final goal 3. Burn LC final goal 4. Schar v. PSG (really the entire night) 5. Tiote 4-4 6. Bruno v. Brighton 7. Shearer testimonial 8. The 21 minutes v. Spurs 9. Bruno v. Leicester It can fight for 10th place with Longstaff's semifinal goals, Burn's QF goal, Pope's save v. Leicester, Shelvey's free kick, Barnes v. Leeds, Keegan's (tainted) return, and lots of things I'm probably forgetting.

But I guess I’m thinking more moments that have given you that surge of euphoric joy, and that was obviously something different. You’ve got loads of the ones that I would have included like. Other’s I’d chuck in for discussion would be Cisse’s banana goal at Chelsea, Gutierrez at home to West Ham, Hayden’s last min winner v Chelsea. Oh, and obviously if we extended to 25 years, Bellamy at Feyenoord.

I think that a lot of it was so bleak, it didn’t much (see the Hayden one) to make you feel ‘euphoric’. I suppose if we start adding significance context to what we choose, there won’t be much from that era to make it.
alexf
For the people bemoaning that we "turn up for the big teams but not the smaller ones". I'd like to add a counter for that. Firstly, by the look of the stats for our results against the current top 8, before last night we had only won 2 games so far, 1 was city at home and the other was Everton away. So we haven't really turned up against the Big sides results wise, but I'm assuming the point being made is the level of performance. However on that point, I would argue it's not that we don't turn up against the 'smaller' sides, it's that our biggest achilles heel is breaking down teams that sit in and then counter us with pace. CL and some of the other bigger teams come and have a go which gives us more space. It's been our biggest problem pretty much ever since Eddie came in. It's the main downside to his style and approach to football. We look great when games get chaotic and we can press and win the ball high and play fast. But that means we don't have the technical methodical guys to play possession football and unlock stubborn defences. So we have to take the good with the bad really. For a long time we all seemed to be in agreement that we preferred watching an Eddie Howe style side that gets the ball forward quickly and plays with speed, compared to a more possession based Pep rip off attempt. Which realistically we wouldn't be able to pull off anyways because we don't have the technical players to play that way and it would cost fortunes to acquire the players that can. I'm not exonerating Howe completely here as I believe if he wants to evolve the team and wants to avoid these drop off seasons every time we are having to balance league and europe together, then we need to find a perfect blend of both and many said we needed more technically competent players in the summer compared to more runners like Elanga. But clearly this is his preferred style and it's taken us a long way so far and really it's only when injuries and fatigue are a factor that it suffers as a style of play.
