I voted unhappy but willing to give him more time, when the poll went up.  I still feel like that.

I'm not sure how I will feel at the end of the season.  But I can't agree with that last line at all.

I think as an absolute bare minimum.  He deserves the rest of the season.  Not really sure what sacking him now would achieve?

Feels like our season is varnigh over now to me. Opportunity to get into the CL has been pissed away and I cannot see us winning enough games to finish in the top 7 and get a EL/EC slot.

Pointless changing manager now, but I would like to think the club are weighing up their options for the summer. Wouldn’t be shocked if they aren’t though, seems like nothing happens behind the scenes.

I think we’re at the point where people are allowed to want a change if they please, surely? Earlier in the season people - including me - probably prematurely jumped the gun at times. But now with 7 games left I reckon it’s more than fair game.

We’ve been shite all season in the league save for a few decent performances, spent a fortune on shit, can’t hold on to a lead, can’t keep clean sheets and concede goals for fun.

Questions are being quite rightfully asked and thus far there’s been no solutions shown as we keep making the same mistakes over and over again.

I’m not fooled by one off performances against ‘big’ teams at home. The majority of your points should come against the rest and we just ain’t getting them anymore.

We’ll finish about 13th and people will just accept it because we done areet in the cups (we were dumped out of all competitions as soon as we played a good team btw).

People can want change whenever they want, but personally I think now would be an idiotic time to change.

I always find the 'spent a fortune on shit' complaint a bit strange, as if those saying it are blind to the fact that we were forced into overpaying for 2 strikers out of desperation, plus the fact we didn't have anyone in place to deal with negotiations but of course, it's all Howe's fault.  Granted Elanga has been a complete miss but how many of us can honestly say we seen that coming when we bought him?  I was excited about him coming in as were plenty of others... Hindsight and all that.

I think we'll finish top 10 still, looking at the run in, the dramatic change in our match schedule, return of players, I think we'll pick up after the break.  This is why I think now would be an idiotic time to change, if we don't pick up after the break with a fit squad/more training time/less games... I'll start to question it myself.

He won’t and shouldn’t be sacked before the end of the season, but I don’t think he could complain if he was peddled today no.

If it was my club, I’d be asking why we keep conceding late winners, can’t hold on to a lead which ultimately is costing us league position and income. It’s been happening all season long and it hasn’t stopped, so something has to change.

Change your system - literally try anything because what’s happening isn’t working.

I get emotions are high as yesterday was awful but diminishing what he did at Bournemouth is quite something

Absolutely incredible and that shouldn't be taken away from him. But it ended the way it did because of his stubbornness and unwillingness to change things. Which seems to be playing out again.

Even Burnley at home, where they played more than half the game with ten men, was nearly thrown away.

It’s mad how much of a soft touch we are now. Ever since we were criticised for our shithousery we are as weak as piss.

Liverpool

Arsenal

Spurs

Brentford

Everton

Mackems

All games we’ve conceded late goals in - and in most of them you could see it coming

Yup, we've gone from having a physical, mentally robust side that needed sprinklings of quality to push on... to a bunch of tummy ticklers. It looks like it all peaked last March but now the balance has gone.

Our first 18 months of windows, we signed some really good players but, crucially, exceptionally strong characters. Trippier, Bruno, Burn have been a really big part of the backbone of our success. Obviously having a class forward was part of that (along with a functioning 'keeper). Gordon was a continuation - a known little shit at the time.

The subsequent windows - Hall, Tino, Barnes, Elanga, Woltemade, Ramsey etc. Nice lads, some good/really good footballers in there, but they don't feel anywhere as elite mentality-wise as those early signings - certainly not players who will help to keep up our fantastic off the ball game consistently. Tonali is the main outlier in this group but, in reality, he's given us 6 very good months in 3 years.

We were once one of the toughest sides to play filled with energy to moving across to a 'prettier' team who lack bite while also not really having enough players to execute a more possession-based approach. We're just stuck.

Just checking in again with the “Eddie out brigade” on who will be replacing him?

Folk have been wanting him out for 6 months now and I’ve never heard a replacement touted.  Apologies if I’ve missed this.

10 EPL clubs could be looking for a manager at the end of the season.

For me is the volume of soft goals we concede - I can’t even remember the last time we conceded and I thought fair play, that’s a good goal

I think he will get until the end of the season now unless we really do go rotten with results (could happen as its games we're expected to win other than Arsenal A).

My issue also goes higher than Howe, do i trust the club to make the change the day after the season ends with a new manager/summer recruitment plan lined up during a World Cup summer? Absolutely not.

Love the optimism but Christ

We aren’t winning all 7 games, I can guarantee that.

The 7 games left are all fixtures that we struggle in. Expected to win and take a game to the other teams in 6/7 of them? We take the cowardly low risk football option.

The only positive I can think of is we can give the new manager time to evaluate the squad and start the summer transfer planning. But then I can’t think of a good candidate now, I admit it.

the problem is if we choose to stand by Howe, we need to give him funds this summer, which is, we all know, fucking risky.

and if the funds are spent while the form next season is still as disastrous as now, we will have no choice but to sack Howe, and then tell the new manager that sorry he has no funds for a few years to rebuild the team.

ahhh….

I always find this a really odd question/insinuation. As if suggesting the manager needs replacing but not offering a replacement renders the suggestion redundant.
I can probably name 12-15 managers in total in all of football because i am interested in Newcastle United, not keeping a mental roster of who's who in football management.

I do get a lot of the arguments but I mean howay, surely you realise that's overly harsh?

As soon as we played a good team: Barcelona over 2 legs, man city over 2 legs and man city again.

Not sure any team/fans in the world would go into them positive of a result.

Sorry but what exactly had Howe done before he came here? The Bournemouth story was nice aye but in terms of the top level stuff he’s achieved here?

The answer is nowt because he didn’t have £750m to spend at Bournemouth.

Okay, so which of them with a profile similar to Howe's have made that jump to another club and achieved what he has?

For all you might think you can throw the money argument at him, he's been largely successful with the money spent and we've achieved - again, 4th, 7th, 5th, a trophy, 2 CL campaigns, a final, a semi, 2 quarter finals. There was a return on investment. Also, a reminder that Man City have spent £500m+ this year with the manager most think is the best in the world and they still haven't looked right for nearly 2 years now.

And you're doing a huge disservice to what he did at Bournemouth there. It's taken for granted now because Bournemouth are a fairly established Premier League team, but he made them that and it was an insane achievement - the equivilent of coming in as Barrow manager now and turning them into an established PL team.

I mean, I don't think dumped out has a definitive meaning but it seems to suggest losing to people who you wouldn't expect us to lose to. If not then fair enough

Aye that's how I see it as well

Sunderland were dumped out by Huddersfield and Port Vale this season

Whereas we were knocked out by Barca and City

Middling teams would love him aye.

Clubs with ambition to win at the highest level though? Not convinced.
