Excellent news and good to put any speculation to bed. Suggests the club are all aligned in how they want to approach the summer too.

Correct decision in my opinion, but we need to hit next season running. No pissing about in the summer, identify our targets now and get deals in place so new signings can have as good a pre-season as possible.

If we're backing Eddie then really fucking back him.

We will be fine next season as we’re playing one game a week. It’s the season after that’s going to be the worry.

Interesting how everyone thinks the one game a week is the magic bullet. We lost a striker who was scoring around 40% of our goals and squandered the money. That's what needs to be addressed.

I’m good with this, there’s been so much change, that a bit of continuity is necessary. I think this season has humbled him a bit as previously he could do no wrong.

He’s definitely lost some influence he previously had within the club, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing as there’s enough responsibility and pressure from the managers role itself.

I hope he turns it around and gets the club back to the potential we have previously seen.

I'm making the assumption that the criteria for him staying was just staying up. Hopefully there's been a detailed, positive discussion about what we are going to do to make sure next season in no way resembles this one.

That's not all on Howe obviously and Hopkinson/Wilson have just as much, if not more, to prove. But I'm hopeful that he knows we need to improve in a lot of areas - recruitment, youth development, our style of play needs to change or at least be more flexible - and this has all been agreed as part of the club backing him for another run at it.

Don’t agree with it but it’s good to get some clarity. Hopefully brings some unity amongst the fanbase and we can win our last 3.

Hopefully Howe is as up for a rebuild as he says he is, and willing to let go of players who have served us well but need to be upgraded upon.

I do worry that a bad start, which has been a common theme since the takeover, and things could turn nasty for him though.

If that's the case, fine by me but we really need to come out flying next season, top 6 all the way.

If we aren't top 6 at Christmas I'd be looking to replace him.

Good to have the clarity and move forward.

As others have said, I'd like to see us evolve into a more technical footballing side - there has to be more than out running the opposition and constantly chasing the ball that we just gave back to them.

Everyone needs to re-evaluate and step up, a renewed sense of identity needs to be the priority - especially our coaching and tactical approach.

Bruno is fantastic technically

He brings a measure of control and intricacy that none of our other players can.

He is but gets caught in possession more than I'd like him to, holds onto the ball far too long, but that's often due to limited movement in from of him I suppose.

Fair enough and the clarity is good. Let’s have a good summer and hit next season running. No excuses now with the executive team in place and having had some time for planning, Eddie has had his free hit season which his record merited.

 I'm perfectly fine with him continuing, he deserves next season to turn things around. He'll know that this season has not been acceptable and mustn't be repeated. What I'm not sure of is him changing his ways and evolving how we play.

EDIT: Then on the other hand, I'm a proper fan of the Eddie-ball of previous seasons, and with no Europe next season, maybe it will work for us.

What does 'Barring unexpected turn of events' mean?  Lose remaining games?

I think it’s a good move to end the speculation. Like everyone I’ve been very disappointed with this season, but I do think he deserves more time.

If he gets backed in the summer and assuming we don’t have Europe next season, then he is going to have to make a lightning start to next season.
