You're telling me you expected us to beat Villa and Spurs away, and draw with PSG?

The PSG result was really good. Should beat Spurs and should be 10 man Aston Villa.

We had them all over at 11 v 11 tbf, but if that's your perspective fair enough.

Spurs away we were expected to win. They are shite.

PSG away was brilliant as was Villa but again its top performances against top clubs, the output on that long term is going to be around 1 point a game or less.

 we've had our swagger back away from home for quite a while now imo, and now our home form is falling apart

Feels like one of those seasons it'll never all come together in the league, but we can still beat anyone on our day so howay the cups.

Where did Sir Joel Inton go anyway?

Still here. Just stopped posting as I was fed up of being hounded across the forum by people on the internet because my opinion didn’t align with theirs.

If I wanted to spend my time doing that I’d post on Facebook.

I believe that, I just don't see him getting a squad because of those rules

Well that's fine but it's a very different point to the one VR was originally making about us only winning matches we're expected to.

Did we both win matches we were expected to and put in top performances against top clubs?

I'd say we did for the most part. Today was our worst performance since Brentford, which was only 3 weeks ago, but crucially imo it was also 6 games ago. Ridiculous schedule.

Did you change your name on there as well?

It was a shambles today. Far too often he’s needing to change it 20-30min in and needing a big half time team talk. Unfortunately, these kinds of performances are becoming more common than the good ones.

In all honestly, I can’t really be bothered with the Eddie IN/OUT chat, as it just entrenches people in camps. This league season has been nowhere near good enough though.

That's the most disappointing thing about it all. With the clusterfuck of the summer he was in charge who came in, and the result is a bunch of players instead of an actual team.

We're crying out for a 10. I think a 10 would be transformative. Imagine out team with Cole Parmer or Morgan Rodgers with Bruno and Tonali behind them.

Don't think we're beating them tbh. The only way to beat them is with good football, and ours isn't that good against physical teams.

We're pretty much the perfect opposition for a team like Sunderland to play.

Our 24th league defeat since start of last season - that’s too many

As per some earlier posts thats Identical to Sir Bobby's 99/00 and 00/01. But were going backwards now and midtable form for that amount of time shouldn't really be on.

Yeah, I think I've given up on it clicking in the league now, it's really felt like one of those seasons where every opportunity we give up results in a goal, it's mad.

Hmm, a bit harsh. We sold our best player and missed out on about 10 targets. It’s not like he hand picked any player he wanted.

Is it? Not every club gets their top transfer targets. He's spent a lot of money chasing players he's wanted. I'm not buying that this isn't his team I'm sorry.

I get the theory of setting up with Joelinton wide left but in reality, against a team like Everton that was not the way to go.
Gordon upfront was also highly unlikely to give us anything as they sit in deep with everyone behind the ball and don't give any space in behind. Literally every player who played in the 9 position today disappeared from the game due to their big old school CB's.
Unfortunate with Ramsey going off ill. Surprised he didn't just give him a minute but I suppose if he is ill then he's ill. But apart from that it had all the hallmarks of our other disappointing home losses to team's we should hope to beat:

- Lack of any energy or urgency early on.
- Moving the ball too slowly around a low block.
- Losing aerial duels against Beto almost every time and then either getting countered on or giving away a soft free-kick (thought the ref was atrocious mind)
- Most concerning is the constant conceding straight after scoring. That is unforgivable really. For it to happen twice after all the 2nd half effort to get back level was unbelievable.

It’s not really that it is or isn’t his team. He’s part of the picture and so is the hierarchy and everything that happened in the summer and before.
