thomas
Almiron will be continuously linked until he buggers off elsewhere: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6439595/Newcastle-ante-chase-25m-rated-MLS-star-Miguel-Almiron.html absolutely retarded fucking gimps at the DM like 3 times they call him a NY player when he plays for Atlanta. Yorkie
Am I wrong to be sceptical about this lad's quality/price-tag given the league he's in?
Kaizero
Am I wrong to be sceptical about this lad's quality/price-tag given the league he's in? Yes, he looks genuine quality. Streets ahead of other MLS players. Only thing to be sceptical of is how well he'll do in a physical league like the PL vs La Liga, for instance. Then again the clobbers in the MLS aren't exactly physically kind either, just less quality.
Ameritoon
There's always the risk because of that, but having seen him enough it's clear he's way above MLS' quality. Only comparable player is Giovinco when he first came over three years ago
Disco
He was the best player in Argentina before he went. Done fuck all for Paraguay playing against proper teams though.

triggs
In all seriousness though, Robbie Keane was well past his best for Ireland while taking the piss in MLS so it would be a big gamble for Almiron

(that's even if we sign him, which we probably won't) Would be intrigued if we did though.
Ameritoon
All Keane had to do was finish behind what was clearly the best mdifield then. Almiron is the creator of best attacking team in th eleague. But yeah, anyone coming over from a league Bradley Wright-Philips dominates has to be questioned. Personally, I’d be really excited if we somehow pulled it off
Kaizero
Almiron was great in the Argentine league as well, don't forget. Got signed as a designated player at 22. On a higher salary than Zlatan. On that note, would we even be close to paying the wages he'd no doubt want?

He's on $44,000 a week, so around £35,000. You'd imagine if he went to a normal PL club he'd look at anywhere from £80k to £100k. Isn't our current highest player only just above £80k? His stock is high, better and more normal clubs will no doubt be around him. Hopefully the pull of Rafa can bring him in, as the money won't do it. Paully
My mate has a season ticket at Atlanta and mentioned that we should be in for him a while ago - really rates him!
sugoinufc
a quality striker and winger is top of my wishlist. cover or upgrade on RB would also be welcomed. Elliot, Manquillo, Atsu and Joselu should be sold if the opportunity comes. Eh?! Yedlin's been one of our best players this season for me. We only have one left-back. Anyway, we'll sign no fucker well. I agree with you, but if the opportunity came to sign a promising cover or future RB it could be an important signing. And yes - upgrade on Dummett i wouldn´t mind either. He is doing fine, but in an ideal world he would be backup...which he probably wouldn´t mind too much. We could always switch to a 3 man defence. A quality no 10 is also high on the list.

Collage
I've only watched a few YouTube videos of Almiron but he looks very fast, with and without the ball. Can hit the ball too, scores a fair few from outside the box. Doesn't look like he dribbles that much, seems to be a more direct player? Also looks a good passer/crosser. r0cafella
It's possible sure but anything is possible. Mike's best play is to keep Rafa and he knows it. Wouldn't surprise me if he backed him to make him stay then went back to his usual self of no investment.
Ikon
Without taking the owner and our transfer policy into consideration it's "gambles" like Almiron that we need to pull off and hope that we hit jackpot. It's what we need to move on as a team (should). We won't be able to attract or afford "guaranteed" top quality where we are now as a club, even if we suddenly decided to splash out money. We could always improve by signing slightly better players than we have, but we need more than that to progress. So I'm all for a bit of a gamble. Having said that, Rafa has decent pull and obviously has proven that he can find some really price worthy deals. Though I'm sure he'd like to gamble bigger.
