You guys genuinely think we would sign players before finding a manager?

Why not? The players are seen as assets to be sold at a profit, what difference would a manager make to that?

What makes you guys think Mike Ashley wants input from the manager as to which players to buy?

Nah they'll have a list of players across Europe on some database they have access to and will bid for players within budget, manager or no manager.

Theyve done it for 12 years.

Any player we receive an offer for that is deemed acceptable is moved on.

All the manager does at NUFC is basically prepare the team for league games.

cloggers and lumpers incoming.

That's why appointing Bruce won't work, he will want cloggers and lumpers but he will get waifs and strays from the lower European leagues

Newcastle keen on Crouch. NUFC are understood to be interested in the veteran, gangly front man, who would be available on a free transfer this summer, and are monitoring the situation. While the signing would not excite the Geordie faithful, it would however give the team much needed options up front, and also be within owner Mike Ashley's strict operating budget.

Imagine if they did the McClaren thing again.

Caulkin summed it up in the True Faith podcast recently. You cannot second guess Mike Ashley and his cronies. You can't reason with them or find reason in what they do, they exist on entirely different plains to the rest of us.
