Pleased we stay in touch with the top teams with the win today.

But what on earth is happening with the new manager? It's been nearly a month since Langley was sacked. If this was the men's team everyone would be going barmy about a new appointment taking this long.

Claire Ditchburn dodged the question totally in her interview. She was asked if she'd like the job and it was as if nobody had asked a question. As previously suggested, and it's probably the correct tack, they've obviously been told what they should say (and probably what they can't).

I’m going to make a guess and say that they may have wanted to put off naming a new manager before the derby/derbies.

I know that it hasn’t got the same feel about it as the men’s side, but if a new manager had came in and lost the derby with Sunderland, or even both with Durham as well, they may have already lost the crowd. They may have felt that it is more ideal to get those games out of the way and bring the new manager without that immediate danger.

The development side were well beaten at Alnwick yesterday; bench had all the tracking and computers and stats but they were pretty dismal and very poorly organised.

But following just one victory in Newcastle’s opening six league games and a growing belief among sections of the hierarchy that the environment needed a shake-up to realise their immediate ambitions, a new figure was sought, with an appointment close and expected to be confirmed soon.

Once that began to appear like an increasingly distant prospect, Williams — who had been overseeing an audit of the women’s side of the club after joining from Crystal Palace in August — determined that a fresh voice, with elite-level pedigree that can take Newcastle forwards, was required

Somehow, that does surprise me. Ditchburn has a long background, including coaching Manchester City's under 21 women. She seemed a bit miffed they hadn't got nine points out of nine (instead of seven).

Doesn't me, you need a higher and more proven level manager. Ditchburn will no doubt revert to her original role.

While I was expecting a bigger name hire and after stopping my knee jerking she does have a pretty interesting resume. Has a reputation for developing talent and getting best out of players. The comments I have also read about her getting the best result out of Bristol with zero budget and crippling squad injuries probably makes here a good fit!

Basically sounds like the female Eddie lol.

Made big changes bringing in younger players and seemed to have a long term

This is what we need  too many there for paydays at the minute imo

We really needed it last season when we could have taken advantage of this season's chances of course, but whatever :)
